  • Small family-run site with Ribble Valley views in Lancashire
  • A 20-minute drive to Gisburn Forest bike paths, Pendle Hill and Settle
  • Dog-friendly site with dedicated exercise area; pub 15 minutes’ walk
Keen to have a look at Lancashire and a sneaky peek into Yorkshire? Lurk for a while at Calder Farm for a peaceful break with views to Pendle Hill in the spectacular Ribble Valley. This is a scenic pitstop for exploring the Forest of Bowland National Landscape (10 minutes’ drive) or hopping counties into the Yorkshire Dales National Park (20 minutes). Sparkling clean facilities on this family-run site include a heated toilet block with disabled access to the showers and washing-up area. Barbecues are permitted (but not open campfires please), and you’ll need to bring your own firepit, although you can buy wood on site and picnic tables are provided on the tree-sheltered field. Stock up on barbecue supplies in the supermarkets of Clitheroe (15 minutes’ drive), and if you’re just not that into cooking on your Lancashire camping break, there’s a gastro-pub and microbrewery in the pretty village of Bolton by Bowland (15 minutes’ walk). Your family dogs are welcome to join you on the many footpaths direct from the site, and there’s also a dedicated dog-exercise area in a fenced field – the owners do ask, however, that dogs remain on a lead while around the site. And talking of animals, you’ll soon be firm friends with the horses and ponies grazing neighbouring fields.

Electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (small)

Liked Very spacious pitches (we opted for a grass pitch with electric). The owner greeted us on site and showed us where we can pitch and gave us the choice.
Quiet site, tidy toilet and shower block.
Lovely views of Pendle. Free WiFi throughout site.
Short walk to the village.

Disliked Grass pitches were slightly sloped but some ramps can easily sort that.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Large pitches, you get to choose your own. Surrounded by fields and views.

Disliked We have just spent Friday to Sunday, in what at first was going to be a lovely peaceful weekend. A motorhome turned up, one man and 3 kids, he proceeded to put loud music on and let the kids run riot. This continued all weekend, until 11.00 both nights. He had a friend staying in the cabin with two kids, and on the Saturday another fella turned up as a guest with his kids. Totally spoilt our weekend. We did complain to the site owners and they did respond quickly and speak to them. We know it’s not the fault of the site but these people had no consideration for any of the other guests who also were not happy.
There are no on site wardens only the owners who live in the farm house, maybe more site visits are needed.

Electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (small)

Liked Absolutely stunning camp site! Super friendly owners too! Huge bonus that you get to wake up to the farm animals in the mornings. Ideal location in an absolutely picturesque village. 100% recommend! We spent the bank holiday weekend here last weekend in our trailer tent and everyone of us loved it ❤️
