  • Small family-run site with Ribble Valley views in Lancashire
  • A 20-minute drive to Gisburn Forest bike paths, Pendle Hill and Settle
  • Dog-friendly site with dedicated exercise area; pub 15 minutes’ walk
Keen to have a look at Lancashire and a sneaky peek into Yorkshire? Lurk for a while at Calder Farm for a peaceful break with views to Pendle Hill in the spectacular Ribble Valley. This is a scenic pitstop for exploring the Forest of Bowland National Landscape (10 minutes’ drive) or hopping counties into the Yorkshire Dales National Park (20 minutes). Sparkling clean facilities on this family-run site include a heated toilet block with disabled access to the showers and washing-up area. Barbecues are permitted (but not open campfires please), and you’ll need to bring your own firepit, although you can buy wood on site and picnic tables are provided on the tree-sheltered field. Stock up on barbecue supplies in the supermarkets of Clitheroe (15 minutes’ drive), and if you’re just not that into cooking on your Lancashire camping break, there’s a gastro-pub and microbrewery in the pretty village of Bolton by Bowland (15 minutes’ walk). Your family dogs are welcome to join you on the many footpaths direct from the site, and there’s also a dedicated dog-exercise area in a fenced field – the owners do ask, however, that dogs remain on a lead while around the site. And talking of animals, you’ll soon be firm friends with the horses and ponies grazing neighbouring fields.

Electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (small)

Liked Calder farm is everything that it reads, clean facilities, lovely hot water for showering, washing facilities for pots, on a working farm, plenty of space, very welcoming so why rate a 7 /10?
This probably wasn't the campsite for a 10 year old active child as it was too quiet for them, it was a mum and son camping trip short break. If I was on my own, with a partner/friend, happy to read book, relax recommend highly.

Disliked It's unfair to say disliked as I wasn't sold misinformation, the location is lovely however slightly to far out I felt for what we wanted for out trip, the local pub was not walking distance, we biked it and it was okay for confident riders.
The camping site didn't suit our needs personally, simply too quiet, we stayed for 3 nights, I'll stay for two nights again spend a day biking in Gisburn Forest and that would work better for our needs personally.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Beautiful location and only a short walk to the village and a great pub. Great for exploring on foot or by bicycle, popular small towns are just a short drive away.
The site is well spaced out with a good variety of pitch types. The site is not too big, with everything you need, making it perfect for a relaxing break.

Acorn Pod camping pod

Liked Liked everything. The Pod had all the comforts you need. The views were lovely I could have just sat out on the patio area all day and night. Owner took the trouble to call to see if all was OK. Will be staying for longer next year 😁

Liked First time in a pod, camped for 20+ years so not expecting luxury! Lovely site, great cabin, issues resolved fast. Will return with Family.

Disliked Could have been a little cleaner overall, cutlery etc greasy, fan vents dirty, and no matches/lighter for fire. Rectified fast by hosts tho , good service , overall pleased, small issues but would return.
