  • Wild site at Wyresdale Lake in the Lancashire countryside
  • Dog-friendly setting in the Forest of Bowland National Landscape
  • Café and a watersports centre with paddleboarding activities
Wild stays are the order of the day at The Campsite at Nicky Nook. Set in the Forest of Bowland National Landscape, the site has no on-site shower facilities… not that you’ll need them. It also has a watersports centre running paddleboarding activities on Wyresdale Lake, so one wobbly moment can easily end in a refreshing dip. This should be a splendid spot for walkers to stay. Set off on country walks into the hills; climbing the local hill, Nicky Nook, which is within half a mile of the site, comes highly recommended by the team for watching sunrises over the Lancashire countryside. The village of Scorton’s shop, restaurant and café are a 20-minute walk away. However, there’s no need to go too far for brunch, as the on-site café serves food from 10am to 4pm every day. You get to pick your own pitch at The Campsite at Nicky Nook. Once you’re settled in, take yourself on a walk around to see the basic facilities, which include running water and toilets. If you fancy setting up a fire, raised firepits are permitted. Dogs are also welcome to tag along on your holidays here.
