What customers say

This campsite is highly praised for its peaceful atmosphere, stunning natural views, and exceptionally friendly and accommodating owners. Visitors highlight the cleanliness of the facilities, which are described as basic yet charming and well-maintained, including a unique shepherd hut toilet block. The site is noted as being ideal for quiet getaways and walks. While generally well-received, some mention limited facilities, particularly the single toilet, and a preference for flatter pitches. Overall, it's recommended for short, tranquil stays.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked The peace, and tranquility. The naturally beautiful views. The smell of fresh mown grass. The friendly and helpful neighbour.
We would stay again, it was really peaceful.

Disliked The facilities were minimal, and the toilet and shower, though innovative, were a distance from us. I must say they were very well kept and very clean.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (small)

Liked ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Perfect Camping Getaway!
From the moment we arrived, we knew this place was special. The site was spotless, well-maintained, and surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The pitches were spacious and private, with plenty of room for both our tent and a small seating area.

Facilities were excellent – clean bathrooms and everything kept to a high standard. The owners were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, offering local tips for walks, activities, and the best sunset spots.

We loved how peaceful it was at night, with only the sounds of nature around us. In the day, we could easily access walking trails and walks to the local pub

Liked Fast, friendly check-in.

Disliked Only one toilet and washroom (a converted sheep trailer), no shower. I was travelling on a motorcycle with a small a tent. Limited space to pitch the tent which wasn't on a steep slope.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (small)

Liked The welcome was great and the camping field cleaning with fantastic peaceful views of the hills. Great views for the sunrise and sunsets. Easy access to the public footpaths around Beacon Fell. The shepherd hut toilet block was clean and all you need for basic camping and short stays.

Disliked No dislikes but I guess shower facilities would be a bonus if you wanted to stay longer as a tent camper.

Local attractions

The centre of the United Kingdom is said to be at Dunsop Bridge, a pretty village 20 minutes' drive to the north. On your way there, you'll pass Bowland Wild Boar Park (20 minutes), a fantastic family day out by the banks of the river Hodder. For open-air explores in the local area, you could head to Stonyhurst College (20 minutes), where JRR Tolkien once lived and worked, and set out on the Tolkien Trail through the gorgeous Ribble Valley. Alternatively, there are the dedicated cycling paths and café at Gisburn Forest (40 minutes) or shorter loops around Beacon Fell (10 minutes). Those interested in fishing, meanwhile, can get stuck in at Barnsfold Fishery (five minutes), a well-liked angling spot just up the road that specialises in trout. A day out in the historic city of Lancaster (40 minutes) should be next on the agenda if you're staying for more than just a few days – make sure to see the castle and its dungeon, which held the famous Pendle witches before their trial. A little further up the M6 brings you to the coast at Morecambe (45 minutes) or the South Lakes (it’s an hour to the southern tip of Windermere), which can often be glimpsed from the top of nearby Beacon Fell on clear days.
