Surrounded by farmland on one side and Llangollen Canal to the other, Wild Escapes is a woodland eco-site for guests aged 12+ surrounded by mature trees and overlooking three wildlife ponds. Each pond is well stocked with fish, so guests are welcome to bring a rod (catch and return only). Set in the village of Wrenbury on the Cheshire-Shropshire border, the space makes a peaceful retreat for guests looking to get back to basics for the weekend. Accommodation is in nifty cabins, dotted over the two-acre woodland – with a variety of oaks and weeping willows – so privacy is pretty much guaranteed. Each cabin has private basic cooking facilities and access to a shower. The site has both flushing and composting toilets, and the only power is for the lighting systems – bring your phones fully charged. It’s also only suitable for guests aged 12 and over, due to the ponds not being fenced off. Nantwich (10 minutes’ drive) is the nearest town, with more pubs than you could possibly visit over a weekend. It also has numerous places to eat – including Italian, Thai and American cuisine – (no need to be a slave in the kitchen then) as well as more than 100 listed buildings to check out.

  • The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.
  • Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.
  • No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Liked Absolutely love this place . The fishing is quality so peaceful a lovely place to get away from the rat race and the host George is spot on anything you need its there . Everything is thought about to the last detail . I won't go anywhere else.

Liked We stayed here to fish and wasn't disappointed, caught on corn and meat all day an into night but nothing much bigger than 3lb but still had a great time. Double bed was comfy. Plenty of blankets, wood for fire pit and nice little extras like washing up liquid, shower gel, coffee tea sugar. Gas fire in cabin which was great and very clean. Shower outside clean and hot. This place would be amazing if it had electricity for a fridge! We'll definitely be back!

Disliked Sofa bed mattress only thin compared to the double bed so not too comfy for my 25 & 22 year old sons but OK for a short stay. Take firelighters to help start fire. This would tick every box for us if you had a fridge for food as we didn't go off site to the shops( if there is any 🤣)

Liked We absolutely loved our stay here. The setting was incredibly peaceful, and the lodge was spotless and fully equipped with everything we needed. The fishing on the lakes was excellent, with a great variety and healthy stock of fish. We couldn’t have asked for more a perfect getaway.

Liked Absolutely love this place fishing is amazing . Your always on the fish.
Everything is thought about here down to the salt and pepper. If you think you have forgotten something when coming here the chances are they have got it. George the owner is spot on. Anything you need he's on it. Top bloke . It's my 4th time here and will always come bk I love this place so quiet and peaceful.

Liked Stayed last year and didn't catch a thing however this year was a lot better then cabin was again the best everything you needed right down to the toilet roll 😂 George the manger goes above and beyond I would of recommended this place to anyone it's peaceful and it's home away from home

If you fancy a family stroll, the Llangollen Canal is accessed within five minutes’ walk of the site; for longer jaunts, the Sandstone Trail (20 minutes’ drive) passes ancient hill forts, castle ruins and welcoming country pubs as it cleaves its way through Cheshire. You can also go hiking and mountain biking in Delamere Forest (35 minutes). With its splendid half-timbered buildings, Nantwich (10 minutes) is a mini-Chester sitting on the River Weaver; you can follow self-guided walks around its medieval centre, or hire a narrow boat for a jaunt downstream from the marina. Shrewsbury (50 minutes) is also worth a day trip to explore its historic cobbled streets, admire the timber-framed houses and stroll along the River Severn. The kids will enjoy a day at Chester Zoo (45 minutes), where you can book keeper talks and watch the penguins splashing around in their pool. On your way back to base camp, round off your family trip with a visit to Snugburys Ice Cream (10 minutes), and treat everybody to homemade ice cream in a myriad of flavours.
