Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Great location, close to river walks, the Calderdale Way and Ripponden with shops, cafes, pubs. Pitches are level and have own water supply, EHU. Very clean toilet block (two spacious shower/loo/wash basin rooms with a heated towel rail, which was very welcome in the cool temperatures.)

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Location isn’t bad and the site is well equipped. Done a nice river walk in the morning and spotted a kingfisher which was a nice touch to the end of the holiday. Only stayed one night so can’t give an in-depth review.

Disliked: It’s close to a main road, which means you can hear idiots racing around with their loud exhausts and another campervan in the pitch next to us arrived at midnight then proceeded to make a load of noise which set off our dogs barking. It clearly states 9pm is cut off time for arrivals.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Lovely site, beautiful setting.

Disliked: Difficult to find, ignore where sat nav takes you too as it is completely wrong - ideally needs some signage, apart from that it is lovely

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The toilets were lovely and clean the shower was really lovely, the space we had was amazing, it was so peaceful and it was lovely hearing the river behind the camp and we will definitely stay there again.

Disliked: It would have been nice to know which pitch we were staying on as we were not greeted by anyone so we had to find the number to know which pitch we were on

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Close to the town which has a number of pubs, takeaways and a Co-op. Laid back campsite in a leafy area close to a stream. Room for kids to play and ride bikes. Plenty of hot water.

Disliked: Toilet and showers are combined and there are only two so could be a wait for toilet when busy.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: We loved the site , it was in the middle of a little village which was in walking distance to restaurants and pubs and a local co op. It was next to a river which we loved, the sound was really relaxing at night. The only thing that let it down was when we arrived we didn’t have a reception to go to and didn’t know anything about the area. It would have been good to have an introduction which gave us an idea of where to go etc. However, we did find someone who was really helpful. I just think it was the lack of arrival information. The campsite was lovely and clean and would return.

Local attractions

Walkers, get ready to go. Grab your hiking boots and stride out across the Beacon Hill Romulus to see the peaks of former volcanoes, stroll across the dam at Ryburn Reservoir (both five minutes’ drive) or hike up to the landmark Stoodley Pike (35 minutes) to admire Calderdale views from the monument. For a taster of Yorkshire’s industrial past, walks at National Trust-owned Hardcastle Crags (half an hour) take in former cotton mills and workers’ cottages. Keen to be out exploring on two wheels? Cyclists are just as well catered for, so try the looped trails on rugged moorland or head up to Hebden Bridge (25 minutes) and follow the towpath along Rochdale Canal for gentle family bike rides. Keep the kids entertained with immersive experiments and themed activities Eureka! The National Children’s Museum in Halifax (20 minutes), or spend some time browsing unusual boutiques at the monumental 18th-century Piece Hall – it’s also a lively centre for concerts and seasonal events so check to see what’s on before you go.
