  • Family-friendly site in the former Emmerdale village
  • A 15-minute drive from Yorkshire Dales National Park; Leeds 35 minutes
  • Clubhouse with a well-stocked bar; a short drive from market towns
Spacious pitches, scenic Yorkshire surroundings, proximity to Leeds and a pint in Emmerdale’s Woolpack pub… These all await you at Esholt Sports and Leisure Club, a family-friendly site set in the village that was formerly used as the location for the TV soap. It's surrounded by scenic countryside in the Yorkshire village of Esholt, 20 minutes' drive from Bradford and 35 minutes from Leeds. Esholt found fame as the original setting of Emmerdale: fans of the show will probably recognise several other village locations while here. (And whether you're a fan or not, a pint at the Woolpack is probably a top idea…) Esholt Sports and Leisure Club has a clubhouse and a well-stocked bar. Amenities for guests include toilets, showers and a chemical disposal point. Esholt is well placed for visiting many Yorkshire attractions, such as the museums of Leeds and Bradford, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

What customers say

This is a quiet, friendly site in a lovely village location, with many guests praising the spacious, level pitches and the welcoming staff. The close proximity to the famous Woolpack pub and beautiful walking areas are frequently highlighted positives. While facilities are generally considered clean and functional, some visitors noted they are dated and could benefit from an upgrade, particularly regarding the number of toilets and showers. The on-site sports club adds to the atmosphere with opportunities to watch cricket and football.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked The site is situated in very pleasant surroundings. No issues with the site. However, be careful with the lockable swing barrier. Whilst driving through I had the misfortune of a strong gust of wind blowing it back on my van resulting in £300 worth of damage to the body. Once you unlock the gate you can rotate it a further 90 degrees clockwise and you can lock it open with the padlock in order to avoid this happening.

Disliked Gate/barrier system

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked Good sized pitch

Disliked For the price this was not very good, £32 per night, nothing there, check in via a text message, facilities very dated and not very nice in general.

From the manager: Hi Adrian
Apologies for not being able to check you in personally - wedding responsibilities unfortunately. Pleased the instruction text message worked.
I agree that our facilities are dated, however we do keep ‘em very clean. Of course this isn’t always easy when we’re busy and the weather is poor, so more apologies for your experience and that I wasn’t there for you to report it to.
Incidentally, we made improvements last season and there will be more made for next season.
In terms of things to do; our Pitchup page is accurate in what our site location offers, so I’m not sure what your expectations were before you arrived.
All the best in your future travels - happy camping.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked Lots of space on the site, great location to explore the area.

Disliked The toilet and shower facilities, although clean, were some distance away. Whilst there we had torrential rain which meant the area in front of the toilet block had huge pools of water to navigate.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked The steward was really friendly. Also the pitches were level and quite spacious.

Disliked The shower and toilet facilities were very dated and not very clean with mould round the sealant. There was only one toilet and two showers in each of the male and female blocks and they were very basic. The shower tray filled up as if the drainage wasn't very good. Also it was quite a walk from the pitches to the facilities and no lighting which would be difficult in the middle if the night as a code was needed to unlock the outer door.

Liked Location was good

Disliked Ok little site, unfortunately we won’t be attending again my little boys ages 4 & 5 both have small electric bikes but was told they wasn’t allowed to ride them, were in 2025 but yet all campsites are still in 1980 you can’t do this you can’t do that.. I don’t see the difference in a small electric bike to a pedal bike?.
