  • Quiet Tyne and Wear site for CAMC members only, next to a working farm
  • A 10-minute drive from Hadrian’s Wall and Corbridge Roman Town
  • Nearby bridleways for walking; shops 10 minutes’ drive away
In need of a rural fix, and partial to a place that’s a short drive from not only a national park and a national landscape but also a famed historic attraction? Bingfield Combe Certificated Location, a quiet site for Caravan and Motorhome Club members only, should suit the bill rather nicely On your drive to this Tyne and Wear site, you’ll likely pass through gorgeous rural landscapes known for their dark skies. Next to a working farm, the site is in a fine spot for rambling along quiet country roads or strolling along the public bridleway that passes the farm. If you fancy a walk with a historic theme instead, just take the10-minute drive to the Hadrian’s Wall Path. The Roman wall is 73 miles long (or 80 Roman miles long, if you fancy getting properly into character…), but you don't have to walk the lot – even a short section will give you a taste of it. Corbridge Roman Town, 10 minutes’ drive away from the site, was once a lively Roman town and a pitstop for civilians or Romans picking up provisions. The modern Corbridge will play a similar role in your stay at Bingfield Combe Certificated Location, as it has the closest supermarkets, petrol stations and pubs (all 10 minutes' drive away) For extra wanderings or excellent stargazing spots, it’s a 20-minute drive from the site to the edge of the Northumberland National Park and 25 minutes to the edge of the North Pennines National Landscape. This is a fairly simple rural site with a chemical disposal point but no toilets or showers, so you'll need to be self sufficient on that front. Dogs are welcome to join you on a stay here.

What customers say

This quiet, rural site offers beautiful views and a clean, well-maintained grass pitch. Facilities include brand-new showers and clean toilets. It's a pet-friendly, working farm. While there are no on-site toilet or shower blocks, this is considered reasonable for the price by some visitors, who are happy to use their own facilities. The surrounding area provides enjoyable activities.

Electric gravel touring pitch (members only)

Liked Was a beautiful little place, quiet and serene, the road in was fun and steep so just be prepared lol. They don't have toilets or showers, but for the very reasonable price that was not a concern for us. Pet friendly but must be kept on a leash due to this being a working farm, even the cat had fun meeting a sheep

Disliked Norhing

Local attractions

Where first? South to the North Pennines National Landscape for some sailing and windsurfing at the sailing club next to Derwent Reservoir (25 minutes’ drive)? East to Go Ape Matfen (15 minutes) for some daring treetop obstacle courses and dismounts by zipwire? Hexham (20 minutes) might catch your eye too, with its market days giving you the chance to get your hands on local produce and the Hexham Old Gaol Museum telling old tales from the Border, including troublesome local families. Hexham Abbey is one of the town’s most notable sights; the painted wooden panels hail from the 15th century. Plus, all that Tyne Valley scenery surely makes Corbridge worthy of becoming your go-to picnic spot? If you are still keen to get your fill of the area's Roman sites, Housesteads Roman Fort (25 minutes) is a former auxiliary fort with barracks, a hospital and other ruins. Its views over Whin Sill are also worth a mention.
