  • Private pitch set within a large fully enclosed garden
  • Under 10 minutes' drive from Rothbury and 30 from the coast
  • Garden toys and a barbecue available for guests' free use
Seeking seclusion on your next country hol? Get a slice of solitude at Tosson Tower Farm, a single motorhome pitch in a private garden at the edge of Northumberland National Park. The whole garden is let along with the pitch, so that guests have plenty of space and peace. Immerse yourself in the serene surrounds and take in the phenomenal views: the site is at the foot of the Simonside Hills overlooking the Coquet valley, a scenic and handy spot to stop off at on a Northumberland tour or to use as a base for exploring the national park and beyond. Tosson Tower Farm is 25 minutes’ drive from the old town and castle of Alnwick and 30 minutes from the beach at Alnmouth in the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If kids want more bucket and spade times after afternoons at the coast, the site has a sandpit to mess around in; family toys are also on hand and the garden is fully enclosed so that children – and dogs – are able to roam around and play safely. An outside water tap is provided and guests can also use the garden’s barbecue. For stocking up on food and supplies, the town of Rothbury is two and a half miles away. If you’re in the holiday spirit and don’t feel like cooking (and who could blame you?), stay on site and have an award-winning breakfast at an additional charge.

Local attractions

National Trust member (or just really into old country houses)? The Cragside property and gardens formerly belonging to a Victorian inventor is five minutes' drive from the site – it’s also one for engineering types as it was the first house in the world to get lights powered by hydroelectricity. Another place that gets glowing reviews is Rothbury Forest 25 minutes’ drive away for walks in the woods; the fishing village of Craster’s a cracker as well (40 minutes) to wander along the small harbour and rocky coast with stunning views of Dunstanburgh Castle’s ruins. Mosey over to Morpeth afterwards around 35 minutes away for the fancy boutiques in this market town or stick closer to the park and have a round or two at Rothbury Golf Club (five minutes’ drive). The site’s also about an hour from both the city of Newcastle for admiring the stately bridges and the Pennines to embrace yet more countryside explores.
