What customers say
This peaceful, well-maintained campsite offers spacious, well-kept pitches and is praised for its friendly, helpful owners and wardens. Guests enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, lovely views, and excellent local walks. Facilities are generally clean and functional, although some reviews noted they are basic and that there is only one toilet and shower per gender, which could be an issue during busy periods. The site is a good base for exploring the coast and countryside.

Helpful warden ✅;no electric hook-up, overgrown path, booking/refund❌
Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Wardens. Pleasant and helpful.
Disliked Service / communication
I originally booked an electric pitch for a Friday in error and realised I had intended to book for the Saturday. I emailed the site requesting a change of date but received no response. I then telephoned and was advised that changing to the Saturday would not be a problem as it was not a bank holiday weekend.
On the Friday, I received a text containing directions, a contact number and the gate code. I arrived on the Saturday as agreed but was informed that there were no electric hook-ups available. This was disappointing as an electric pitch was the reason for my booking. I decided to stay for a short while and see how things went.
I attempted to use the nature reserve/track that I had been told offered a walk around the site. Unfortunately, I found sections to be heavily overgrown with brambles and dense vegetation, making it unsuitable for walking my dog. The walk across the road was a much better option.
The warden was friendly and helpful throughout. When my phone battery was running low, she kindly charged it for me and also offered me a power bank to use. Despite this, without the electric hook-up I had booked, I found the stay unsuitable for my needs. I wanted access to power for charging devices and making a hot drink, so after a few hours I decided to leave. The warden asked whether there was a problem and refunded the £6 electric charge, which I appreciated.
During later discussions regarding my complaint, the owner stated that if I had been unhappy about the lack of electric hook-up, he could have moved one of the motorhomes and provided access to electric. He also questioned why I had not raised the issue at the time. My response was that I had been informed on arrival that there was no electric available, and therefore understood that no electric pitch was available for me to use. An alternative electric pitch was not offered to me at the time.
After discussing the situation with family, I felt it was reasonable to request a refund due to the electric hook-up not being available. I emailed the owner but did not receive an email response. Instead, I received a phone call during which I was told that I had not emailed to request a change of date, despite having proof that I had done so.
I was also told that because I had not replied to the text message containing directions, contact details and the gate code, the responsibility rested with me. However, the text did not ask me to confirm my stay, reply to the message, or indicate in any way that a response was required. Having already spoken to the owner by telephone and been told that changing the booking to Saturday was not a problem, I had no reason to believe any further confirmation was needed.
I was advised to pursue any refund request through Pitchup and later discovered that the booking had been cancelled on the system.
Following this, I was contacted again and offered a refund on the condition that I left a 10/10 review. I was uncomfortable with this arrangement and explained that I would only be comfortable proceeding if the refund was provided first or the agreement was confirmed in writing. The conversation deteriorated from there, and I chose to end it. I later received a written message confirming that a refund would be provided if I left a 10/10 review.
The site itself may suit some visitors, and I found the warden helpful and polite. However, the lack of electric hook-up despite booking one, the communication issues surrounding the booking amendment, and the handling of the subsequent complaint left me disappointed with my overall experience.

From the manager: This has to be a wind up! We have had no emails or texts messages off this lady about the date change. She booked Friday and rocked up on Saturday. We offered her a non electric pitch for the night to help her out so it didn’t spoil her one night camping (first time apparently). our fantastic wardens even offered her there electric pitch she also refused. Our wardens charged her phone up and offered a power bank for the night. We gave her her £6 back for ehu. After a few hours enjoying the site she packed up her stuff and made up a story about a headache but she was happy with the site and would be back (not now as she is blocked) then on the Sunday I got emails asking for her £22 money back and arguing about how she didn’t have ehu we offered her a full refund of her £22 for good will as she missed her pitch on Friday (even though we text her a welcome text on Friday which she didn’t respond to this too) as we say if you book the wrong day or turn up after your booking we will try and help but we can only do what we can. Why would we offer a full refund off £22 when we haven’t done anything wrong especially if you are going to leave a bad review. Next time you should buy a diary or set a reminder. Anyway thanks for the 2/10 also everyone that been will know this is a load of made up Rubish pleses don’t visit again thanks Peter Natalie and team
