Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The large open pitch with facilities and lovely views over the hills

Disliked: Walk along a lane to have a shower (although sunny and dry so ok !) and the toilets were in sheds and a bit draughty but nice and clean

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Great location. Relaxed site with attentive hosts. Excellent amenities, which are basic, but spotlessly clean. Pitches are large and well spread out. Range of dog parks/walks round the site provided by owners and we especially enjoyed the laminated walk guides to help us enjoy the beautiful scenery around the area.

Disliked: It’s a little exposed in the wind so, if you’re a campervan owner, be prepared to have to put the pop-top down - especially if it’s gusty!

Liked: Absolutely loved this site. Nice big pitches with electric and water. Toilets and showers are very clean. Friendly people. Great place to wash up - although hubby did this but said it was good facility. Dog drying shed too although we didn’t use it. We would definitely visit again.

Disliked: Just to be aware there is a little walk to the showers. Not a problem but to note. The dog walking field has large mounds of earth and as our dogs love to dig we only used it once. But there are very long dog leads available to use if you felt your dog my jump the walls.

Local attractions

If you’re not planning lengthy rambles on the long-distance paths, set forth for some of the local highlights instead. Get going in Gargrave (five minutes’ drive) with a waterside walk by the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, then see cascades in action at Linton Falls (20 minutes). Make time for Malham too: a 15-minute drive gets you over to this fab village and its trio of top sights (Malham Cove, Janet’s Foss and Gordale Scar). After that, take an uphill challenge on the mountain paths of Pen-y-Ghent (35 minutes) or head underground to see what’s in store at Ingleborough Cave (40 minutes). Other ways to get about? Perhaps with a day of horse riding from Kilnsey or a rather more laidback trip on the Settle-Carlisle Railway – both are about 20 minutes’ drive away. And if you’ve got tiddlers who’d benefit from staying in one place for a while, there’s plenty to keep them amused among the animals, tractor tours and play areas of Hesketh Farm Park (20 minutes).
