  • Relaxed family-run site on a farm in the Yorkshire Dales
  • A 15-minute drive from Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Janet's Foss
  • Well-spaced hardstanding pitches with a large dog exercise area
Ash Keys Caravan Park is a family-friendly site in a quiet corner of a family-run 165-acre farm. This peaceful spot is at the southern end of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, half a mile from the teeny hamlet of Eshton and five minutes’ drive from more extensive amenities (pubs, takeaways and small supermarkets) in Gargrave. This is a most handy spot to settle in for outdoor activities: you can take walks or bike rides directly from the park, join nearby major trails like the Pennine Way (three quarters of a mile from the park), Way of the Roses and National Cycle Network Route 68. The fab attractions around Malham (Malham Cove, Janet’s Foss and Gordale Scar) are about a 15-minute drive away. The well-kept pitches here all have electricity and water hookups, plus access to a shared toilet block, Elsan point and recycling facilities. Dogs are welcome on site, and have been give their own dedicated exercise area where they can have a good run about. Barbecues are also permitted, and perhaps at their finest when graced with good food from one of the two excellent farm shops within a 10-minute drive.

Location great

Disliked Tv reception not very good even with an aerial lead on each pitch. Which didn't bother us but it may bother others.
Showers were quite a distance if you have mobility issues .

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The campsite was really easy to find. Great communication from the owners after the booking went through. Really clear directions and lot's of suggestions for local walks and places to see and eat. The campsite is really spacious and the facilities clean and well maintained. We showered later in the day due to going on a walk and the water in the showers were still really warm and comfortable.
Lovely space to the side of the site to walk our dog, we also managed to have a really good night with the stars which were amazing to watch.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked what was there not to like, the pitches were level, easy to back into, no need for a grey water tank just straight into the provided drain, water with in 10 m of the van electric the same,
the site was in general very tidy and neat, the grass nicely mown.
the dogs loved the field they had to gallop about in and the views from the top wonderful.
the toilets and other facilities nice and clean, everything easily to hand and well catered for.
the site was generally very quiet and the pitches very well spaced out. you certainly had to shout at the next door van to be heard they that far away lol. lovely roomy feel to the pitches, its so nice not to be crowded in together like a sardine.
the owner a very nice young lady, we liked her a lot and she works quite hard keeping the site nice.
it was really nice being able just turn up and select your own pitch and then sign in where you were. liked that idea a lot.
we really enjoyed it there, it was easy to get into the Dales and The Lakes not that far away either.
there is a good Tesco in Skipton not far away, the chippy in Cargrave the frying Dalesman was really nice chips and fish. we also used the Italian restaurant (Matteo's Italian Restaurant) in Settle in the center of the town its actually in a cellar, lovely atmosphere and the food spot on.
9 3/4 out of 10. I never ever give 10 lol for anything. Always have to leave a little room for improvement. but this is one of the nicest sites we have used.

Disliked just the rain lol and no one controls that. You just put a coat on lol. There was nothing to dislike.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The owner came and introduced herself. The site was clean.

Disliked The two touring pitches that we used were uneven hardcore. Some of the pitches are on inclines. Basic toilets but adequate. Very rural setting. Nothing close by. Grass area flooded due to extreme weather.

Local attractions

If you’re not planning lengthy rambles on the long-distance paths, set forth for some of the local highlights instead. Get going in Gargrave (five minutes’ drive) with a waterside walk by the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, then see cascades in action at Linton Falls (20 minutes). Make time for Malham too: a 15-minute drive gets you over to this fab village and its trio of top sights (Malham Cove, Janet’s Foss and Gordale Scar). After that, take an uphill challenge on the mountain paths of Pen-y-Ghent (35 minutes) or head underground to see what’s in store at Ingleborough Cave (40 minutes). Other ways to get about? Perhaps with a day of horse riding from Kilnsey or a rather more laidback trip on the Settle-Carlisle Railway – both are about 20 minutes’ drive away. And if you’ve got tiddlers who’d benefit from staying in one place for a while, there’s plenty to keep them amused among the animals, tractor tours and play areas of Hesketh Farm Park (20 minutes).
