Yorkshire Coast Glamping: Amazing views of Yorkshire's coastline

General

  • Simple rural site with gorgeous views of the North Yorkshire coastline
  • A five-minute drive to Hayburn Wyke beach; 15 minutes to Scarborough
  • Pre-erected tents with bedding, crockery and kitchen utensils provided

Sitting on hilltops on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, Yorkshire Coast Glamping is a tiny site with pre-erected bell tents and truly spectacular views to Scarborough and the sea. Up here, you’ll wake up every morning to the gentle sound of birdsong – and those glorious coastline views.

This quiet, rural site is set a few minutes’ walk from the traffic-free Cleveland Way and (even better) 10 minutes from a pub. On top of that, the field is within easy strolling distance (25 minutes) of the coast, where the dramatic Hayburn Wyke waterfall makes a pretty backdrop for picnics, walks and seaside adventures.

It’s a five-minute drive from the spacious pitches into Cloughton village, where a couple more pubs and a farm shop are on hand to keep you fed and watered during your stay. For supermarkets and a raft of restaurants, steer yourself towards Scarborough (15 minutes).

On such a small site, you’ll get unhindered access to the facilities: a communal outdoor kitchen with fresh drinking water, a sink with a hot-water supply, gas stoves and a grill for barbecuing. Rubbish bins are emptied daily, and there’s also a private, heated power shower and loo facilities so you can still look your best.

As for the tents themselves: they’re new every season, with insulating ground sheets and coir matting to up the cosiness factor. All bedding, crockery and cooking equipment is provided, and if you forget anything, the owners are just a phone call away.

Please note

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.

Bookings must not consist of more than 2 different households.

Local attractions

First stop is the beach. The pebble cove at Hayburn Wyke is a 25-minute walk away. Second stop is probably going to be the North Yorkshire Moors National Park (10 minutes’ drive) for walks around the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey (one hour 10 minutes) or mountain biking through pine woods from Dalby Forest Visitors Centre (40 minutes).

Build a trip to Scarborough (15 minutes) into the schedule too. Britain’s first-ever seaside resort is an old-fashioned sort of place, with donkey rides, amusement arcades and souvenir stalls selling sticks of rock. The kids can run around on two sandy beaches and there’s a well-stocked fishing lake at Oliver’s Mount, overlooking the town.

Whitby (25 minutes) is another must-see town, with fish and chips shops and a buzzy harbour. And this part of North Yorkshire is peppered with other sights too – think Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast (50 minutes) with its nesting birds, tours of an historic country pile at Sewerby Hall and Gardens (50 minutes) – and Flamingo Land Resort (45 minutes) for thrill rides and happy kids.

Must see

  • Dalby Forest Visitor Centre (10.8 miles)
