  • Adults-only, dog-friendly site 15 minutes’ drive from York
  • Clifton Moor shops five minutes’ drive; Castle Howard half an hour
  • Café on site for breakfasts, sandwiches and afternoon teas
Those who wish to experience the attractions of the city of York while also waking up to the sight of endless green fields and dense woodland should consider staying at Willow House Caravan Park. From this peaceful, adults-only site (over 18s only), it’s a 15-minute drive to reach York Minster – that’s pretty handy, right? Even handier, though, is letting someone else do the driving into the city: you can catch a bus at the end of the drive. What’s more, you’re only a five-minute drive from Clifton Moor Retail Park, with its supermarkets, stores and entertainment options for rainy days (a multiscreen cinema and ten-pin bowling among them). But what about the site itself? In addition to two wildlife ponds – where you can stroll along looking at the ducks as they swim in and out of the bullrushes – there’s a café serving huge cooked breakfasts, sandwiches and wraps, all made with locally sourced produce. Oh, and afternoon teas with home-made cakes and other sweet treats. There is also a gift shop in the café. Your four-legged companion is a welcome guest here, and you can take them (or yourselves) for a walk through Westfield Wood nearby. Back on site, you’ll be able to use the wet room and washing-up area, as well as extra facilities near the café, which include showers and toilets (including facilities for disabled guests) plus a laundry area.

What customers say

This adult-only site is praised for its peaceful atmosphere, cleanliness, and excellent location for visiting York, with a bus stop right outside. Facilities, including heated wet-room showers and toilets, are generally described as clean and well-maintained, though some found them dated or noted low water pressure. The on-site cafe and gift shop are popular. The site offers spacious, flat pitches with water and electricity. Some reviews mentioned issues with drainage and muddy paths, particularly after heavy rain. The self-check-in system was efficient for most.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Lovely quiet campsite. Toilets and showers clean

Disliked Many of the pitches are taken up by Seasonal caravans and they obviously pick the best pitches. The pitch we stayed on became flooded (heavy rain- not the campsites fault) but the other pitches all seemed fine.
I would stay here again but in the Summer.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Good site and close to York with a bus stop right outside the main entrance. Taxi back at night was £13.00!
Café on site is superb, we had breakfast on Sunday morning and it was excellent.
Will book again.

Disliked The showers are very low pressure electric units and in my opinion need updating.
