What customers say
This peaceful and spacious site offers a great location near York, with a good bus service and a pleasant walk into the city centre (approx. 30-40 mins). Visitors praise the friendly and helpful owners, excellent food and value in the pub, and the beautiful spot. While the site can be muddy during wet weather, owners assist with pitching. Some found water/ElsAN access a bit inconvenient and missed having electricity. Check-in procedures and phone availability were noted as issues by one guest, but the manager advised pre-arrival contact.

Very good site
Non-electric grass touring pitch
Liked They now have a few gravel pitches which are ideal when it rains, so although basic it was very good bus stop going into town not quite outside the pub but only a few minute walk onto the main road. Staff friendly and helpful although £27 is quite expensive for a field it was very quite in a lovely village
Disliked None that we did not expect

Non-electric grass touring pitch
Liked Great location near to York. Landlords very friendly and helpful when we wanted to extend our stay. Pub is good, lots going on and good value food. We will definitely return.
Disliked A grey water drain would have been a bonus but not essential.

Great pub, lovely owners, tasty food.
Non-electric grass touring pitch
Liked On the weekend of 20 February 2025 The whole of the UK was severely flooded & saturated and here was no different. The fields were very muddy but the owners went out of their way to ensure we were best pitched. Both nights we went into the Pub (Friday - Karaoke & Saturday there was a singer on) and we received a great welcome. On Friday we tried their Steak Pie & Chips and it was 10/10. We are definitely going back! Taking into account the price of accommodation in York, the Derwent Arms is a bargain. Forgot to say...One of the most peaceful, quiet sites we have ever stayed on.
Disliked My wife's version of Shania Twain, Man, I feel like a woman. on Karaoke on the Friday night.
