Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: The site was well advertised on Pitchup.com and so we chose this site based on specific requirements. This was our first time ever with our new caravan so were very nervous. Upon arrival at the site, the park rangers were extremely helpful. and assisted us with locating the caravan and made us feel very relaxed. The site itself was very well laid out, it wasn't overcrowded. The showers & toilets were exceptionally clean. The owner was himself running the bar on Sat evening and was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be visiting this site again and have recommended to friends

Disliked: Nothing, it was an excellent site

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks Tony for taking the time to leave such a great review and for your kind recommendations. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and we can welcome you back again very soon.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Nice layout with ease of access to all facilities. Great staff who were very friendly. It was nice to pop in a little bar and have a pint. Only used it a few times as not regular drinkers. The wifi in the bar was really useful as the mobile signal is awful. It will vastly improve the site when they extend the wifi service. We were on a fully serviced pitch so never used the showers. Very good water pressure. Unusual grass cutting with very quiet robotic lawn mowers. A very quiet site that was pleasant to stay at.

Disliked: Although a dislike it is nothing to do with the site - getting onto the A64 if going right towards York is a nightmare.

From the manager: Thanks Colin for taking the time to leave such a great review, we are delighted you enjoyed the tranquility of the site. We hope we will be able to welcome you back to Flaxton Meadows soon.

Local attractions

Starting your explores of the local area is as simple as wandering next door to Strensall Common, managed by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and with plenty of paths to wander along (some of them accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs). York (20 minutes) is a must, of course – for history at the Jorvik Viking Centre, walks along the old walls and visits to the National Railway Museum. For more on the heritage front, next stops should certainly be Castle Howard (15 minutes), Nunnington Hall (25 minutes) and Rievaulx Abbey (35 minutes). There's a Go Ape adventure park at Dalby Forest (35 minutes) for an active day out. And there’s always the prospect of a trip to the coast at Filey (45 minutes) or Scarborough (50 minutes)… Can’t make your mind up? The team here has assembled a collection of podcasts to give you a flavour of some of the options and help you make your decisions.
