What customers say

This location is praised for its pleasant countryside setting, excellent location near a pub and village, and friendly, helpful hosts. Visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the facilities, particularly the toilets, and the accurate pre-arrival information. However, some found access challenging due to overhanging trees, and the lack of showers was a recurring point. While good value for stopovers, the site is considered by some not to be a traditional campsite.

Non-electric gravel motorhome pitch

Liked Lucky to be sharing the two place ‘garden pitches’ (5-6) alongside friends, so we had a pleasant environment to sit out in. Access to water was good. Access to toilet good.

Disliked I don’t think it’s clear In the information that this is more of a Motorhome stopover rather than a ‘site’. We received an email on the morning of arrival that made it clearer. I definitely would not have wanted to be on the car park pitches (1-4) at the front as it was literally that on the gravel driveway.
It was further from Yarm than we expected. WiFi didn’t work on our pitch.

Non-electric gravel motorhome pitch

Liked We had a lovely two days staying at the back of the Old Mill. We were two vans so had slots either side of a lovely lawn area and plenty of privacy. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the pub at the end of the drive, The Fox Covert, is excellent - full and buzzing and with very good food.

Disliked It's quite a long walk to Yarm (a good half an hour) which we weren't expecting and sadly you can't get over the river to take the pretty footpath on the other side, so have to mainly go via the roads. This is not a campsite, so you are slightly wedged in on the back of the main B&B but it's a pleasant place to stay for a night or two.

Non-electric gravel motorhome pitch

Liked A great location, level gravel area, a lovely setting. All well maintained and cared for. Fabulous to have a good pub two minutes walk away. Toilet clean and handy. Great directions and information prior to arrival. A good price and dog friendly.

Disliked Perhaps I was unlucky. On the second night I shared the area with a group of partying women who were enjoying karaoke 'till 11pm. On the third night a family arrived who took over the whole space, trashed the apple tree, and threw rubbish everywhere. Parents got drunk and the children were playing and shouting 'till 1am.

Local attractions

Alpaca Alpaca (10 minutes’ walk) is the name of the farm where you can get trekking with an alpaca as your companion. Once you’re all warmed up, bigger hikes can be tracked down in the North York Moors National Park (20 minutes’ drive) or you could prep your legs for the 199 Steps in Whitby (45 minutes). This coastal spot has lots in the way of holiday activities, from a seaside fix at the beach to the abbey, brewery and Captain Cook Museum in the town. Meanwhile, a day out in Saltburn-by-the-Sea (20 minutes) could look like ice cream by the beach, a trip up the cliff tramway for some splendid views or taking in the fresh sea air on the pier. When you want to stick somewhere close by to the site, a small wander around Yarm Castle and high street (five minutes) is one option. Others are Middlesbrough Golf Club (10 minutes) or the Victorian street and museum at Preston Park Museum (10 minutes) Set off for some scenic ruins instead if you wish, as some of the Augustinian Gisborough Priory (25 minutes) still stands and guests can imagine what it looked like in its heyday.
