  • Peaceful touring pitches in the North York Moors National Park
  • Whitby 15 minutes' drive away; 25 minutes to Robin Hood's Bay
  • Adults-only site with dogs permitted; easy access from A171
Can’t decide between a countryside location or being close to the coast? Bag yourselves a good bit of both with a stay at Burnt House Caravan Park. This peaceful family-run park is in the North York Moors National Park, so it’s surrounded by gorgeous rural scenery and has easy access to moorland walks, relaxed bike rides and other activities including fishing at Scaling Reservoir (five minutes' drive away). You may like to ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a good taste of the landscapes or perhaps challenge yourself to a steep clamber up Roseberry Topping. Or how about that coast trip? The North Yorkshire coast is only about five miles from the site, and being close to the A171 means you’ll be able to zip along to the popular town of Whitby in about 15 minutes by car. Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay are all within easy reach too. The touring pitches here are for adults only, but dogs are allowed as long as they’re kept on leads at all times. Barbecues are permitted, and you can retreat to the games room for some indoor time if the weather’s not looking so good. Other facilities on site include a launderette, a wifi service, a chemical disposal point and bathrooms with showers and toilets.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch (maximum 7 metres)

Liked Great welcome on site from Steve the warden. He took us to choose our pitch and shared information we required for our stay.

Steve was also extremely conscientious of customers booked on site and came to make sure we were OK on our 2nd evening as worried as we returned after tea to our pitch.

The Budleia bushes behind our van were gorgeous to watch butterflies and moths in. We also spotted 3 hedgehogs including a baby one at dusk while Sat outside. Loved hearing the owls, and watching the bats and rabbits also.

Facilities all clean and tidy. The site was extremely quiet and 2 peaceful evenings spent on site while volunteering with the YWT. We shall definitely not hesitate to book again.
