Alum House Glamping: Inside looking out

General

  • Bell tents with full kingsize bed near Whitby on the Yorkshire coast
  • Beaches, Robin Hood’s Bay and Goathland village all 15minutes' drive
  • Log-fired stoves, private showers, outdoor kitchens and mini fridges

This is a wow of a luxurious glamping spot in the North Yorkshire hamlet of Littlebeck – Alum House Glamping certainly knows how to sort outdoor breaks in style. On this secluded site, each bell tent is pitched in a peaceful corner of the grounds, and none are overlooked, so your luxury retreat really is totally private…

These tents run on solar power and are heated by log-fired stoves (with log packs available on site for an extra charge). Linen is provided for the kingsize beds with luxury mattresses, and the private shower facilities are close to the tents.

Washing-up facilities are attached to the shower block, and there’s a microwave, kettle and fridge there too – the owners have even planted a herb garden to make your mealtimes extra tasty.

Other considerate touches include a porch to keep your stuff dry (this being Yorkshire), a mini gas fridge and outdoor kitchen with cooking equipment including a crockery box. And in the evening, you can all keep cosy around the firepit, with an inbuilt barbecue.

And finally, a couple of house rules: small dogs are allowed (for a small daily charge) but must be kept on a lead at all times as the owners have chickens. Please do not allow them inside the tents if they are wet, as they're likely to mark the canvas if they shake themselves down.

Please note

The site only allows dogs up to 6kg.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Single-sex bookings of 4 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

The bell tent was beautiful, well kitted out , there was everything you may of needed in the kitchen area, the individual bathrooms were a bonus and private. everything was clean and well presented. The little touches made all the difference.. the hot tub was lush.. I’d booked the weekend for my husband’s birthday, what a treat !! we will definitely be returning and will recommend to everyone we know. The hosts were exceptionally helpful and friendly I honestly can’t fault Alum house in any way.

Really spacious site - couldn’t even see the other two yurts from our pitch!
Lovely warm welcome - site owner is friendly and helpful.
The yurts are clean, comfortable and well heated, with amazing facilities. You have your own toilet/shower room and extensive cooking provision. Enjoyed fresh eggs from the free range chickens. We had a wonderful time. We will definitely be back!

The accommodation was beautiful and spacious with a really comfortable bed. The addition of our own private bathroom turned this into real luxurious glamping. The well equipped outdoor kitchen area made breakfasting in the outdoors a pleasure, whilst the wood fired hot tub was perfect for relaxing in the evening. The welcome we received was wonderfully warm yet the spacing of the tents on the site meant out camping area was extremely private. We had a wonderful stay here and would live to return. 😊
