Beautiful day

  • Spacious adults-only site with spectacular views over the Pennine Way
  • Within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland
  • Dog exercise area; two minutes' walk from the local pub
Thinking of visiting the Yorkshire Dales National Park? Or maybe the Forest of Bowland National Landscape? How about both? Willowbeck Farm, on the edge of the little North Yorkshire village of Wigglesworth, is neatly located between the two, putting guests within easy reach of lots of scenic areas for walks, bike trails and horse riding. (Need tips on the top spots? Try the spectacular surrounds of Malham Cove or the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, both around half an hour’s drive away). Town attractions and amenities are handily nearby too: you’re five miles from the market town of Settle (where there’s also a supermarket if you don’t happen to be passing by on a market day) and around a half-hour drive from Skipton and Clitheroe for castle visits and plenty of independent shops to poke around in. Back at base, you’ll be staying on a small, quiet and well-maintained adults-only site with no toilet and shower facilities. There's a dog exercise area on site, good news for your furry companions. If you fancy heading out for a meal or a drink, there are a couple of country inns nearby, with the very popular Plough Inn roughly two minutes' walk from the site. Please be mindful that this is a rural site and the digital TV signal is very weak. Although there's no wifi here, there's usually great 5G mobile data coverage on site.

What customers say

This is a small, quiet, adult-only campsite with beautiful views and well-maintained, clean facilities including showers and toilets. Hardstanding pitches are spacious and level. A secure, enclosed dog field is a highlight. The site is conveniently located within a short walk of a highly-rated country pub. Some guests noted road noise, and a few found the limited number of toilet/shower facilities could lead to queues when busy. Manager replies indicate a commitment to addressing guest feedback and maintaining site standards.

From the manager: What a thoroughly misleading review….

We are. NOT physic and you failed to actually tell us you were leaving a day early for a funeral.!!!

The manager these days having little in the way of filters left for dealing with guests such as this and whose hero is Victor Meldrew should probably think twice before booking if they are of the opinion their stupid and misleading comments won’t be challenged and answered frankly…!

Kind regards the grumpy manager…

Fully-serviced hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Good sized pitches with a designated secure dog exercise field & access to essentials.
There are lovely walks from the doorstep and a great pub just a few minutes walk around the corner.

Disliked We were unable to empty our grey waste as this needed to be emptied into a drain in an area we could not drive over, I asked if they could supply a bucket to aide us with this but they advised they could not, unfortunately we weren’t equipped for this and it’s not specified on the listing.

From the manager: Thank you for your review and wondering if some advice on booking for the future may help.

I understand this was a hire vehicle and that they obviously failed to provide you with essentials like a waste pipe which would have specifically fed into the drain on your pitch designed for this exact purpose.

For future reference, a fully serviced pitch (which you booked) has its own grey waste drainage and a water supply. If you required a drive over point Pitchup helpfully allows you to filter for this option when booking.

I hope fellow “newbies” to motorhoming can read this reply and find the response useful so they can then book the correct pitch for their requirements.

Kind regards Willowbeck

Fully-serviced hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked A quiet, picturesque, small, calm, clean and tidy and very pleasant stop. Good size pitches, well spaced. The owners are welcoming and have clearly spent a great deal of time, money and effort on creating this pretty little site in beautiful countryside.
They provide all that is promised (EHU, water, grey waste) on pitches and a separate black-water waste disposal. There are no showers or WC, which is fine!
Dog walking on site and plenty of footpath walking around the area.
Gastro-pub very close by (not tried it)

Disliked Nothing disliked.

Local attractions

There are heaps of options around here if you’d like to stretch your legs – head a few minutes’ drive west for the Forest of Bowland National Landscape or east to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Popular spots include Gisburn Forest (15 minutes' drive), Malham Cove and Tarn (25 minutes) and Janet’s Foss waterfall (25 minutes). To delve under the Dales, head to Ingleborough Cave (25 minutes); stick to the surface for trips to Settle Falconry (15 minutes) or the romantic ruins of 12th-century Bolton Abbey, set in a whopping 30,000-acre park (half an hour). Follow up by heading to Harrogate (50 minutes) to refresh at the famed Betty’s tearooms or Pateley Bridge (50 minutes) to peruse the shelves of The Oldest Sweet Shop In The World. If you’ve overdone the exercise a little while roaming, take it easy for a while by heading to Skipton (25 minutes) to cruise along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal or settle down in a seat on the Settle-Carlisle Railway (10 minutes) for a scenic 73-mile ride through the spectacular countryside.
