  • Simple and scenic pop-up site on a Yorkshire Dales working farm
  • A 10-minute drive to Bolton Abbey or Stump Cross Caverns
  • Direct access to the Dales Way; two village pubs five mins' drive away
Taking a walk on the Dales Way? You’ll probably want to stop off here – Pasture Pitches is in a supremely handy spot just off the long-distance path a couple of miles south of Appletreewick, with direct access from the path to the site. And the rather tougher 90-mile Dales High Way is only about a mile away too, making this a suitable spot for the more hardcore hikers as well. Even if you’re not planning to tackle the full 80-mile trail, this spot is well located for walking in the Yorkshire Dales – you could step out onto the Dales Way for a shorter riverside walk or check out lots of other lovely local trails including the Valley of Desolation waterfall walk or the routes around Embsay Crag (also a popular bouldering spot, by the way). Giving your boots a rest is no problem, either, as there are plenty of other attractions nearby including the stunning Stump Cross Caverns, the atmospheric ruins of Bolton Abbey and the heritage train rides of Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. Skipton (15 minutes’ drive) is a handy place to find shops and places to eat, but there are also two pubs five minutes’ drive away in Appletreewick. This is a small and simple pop-up site on a working farm, so facilities stretch to just portable toilets and showers, but you’re welcome to bring a barbecue and you'll have space for your gazebo or awning to provide extra shelter.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Great site, close to the river wharfe, some really nice scenic walks, a couple of pubs not far away. The site has clean toilets and a shower, lots of space between pitches. Friendly hosts, would recommend and return.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Quiet and uncrowded site. Very good facilities. Well maintained grass field. Plenty of space unlike neighbouring sites which we'd always avoid.

Disliked The shower design meant that the floor was wet. Perhaps a floor drain and/or wiper blade would help, with a sign asking people to keep it clean after they used it (I've seen this at other sites)? The water pressure kept dropping, presumably when the other taps etc were in use but I don't know if much can be done about that.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked A fantastic site, run by friendly people. Over my 4 night stay I had a near empty campsite (me and one other) and a completely full campsite and it didn't feel cramped at all, just chill camping vibes all around. I went in summer holidays, so there was a mixture of families, groups, couples and solo travellers, but it didn't feel overly busy, I never queued for the loo. I prefer the quieter campsites where you can just be left to it, but you know where to go if you have a question, this was perfect for that. They are so lucky to be right on the river Wharf, parking up by the river was super therapeutic listening to the water and the local cows and sheep in the evenings. Loads of walks directly out the campsite, loads of places to see a short drive away too. It's perfectly located for the Yorkshire dales and Nidderdale landscapes. Really nice simple facilities, basically all you need in my opinion, shower was great pressure and temp too!

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Brilliant, simple, quiet, and peaceful campsite with spacious pitches and everything we needed for a fantastic family camping weekend. The family who run the site are incredibly friendly and couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome.
The toilets and showers were clean and well maintained, and the riverside walks nearby were a real highlight. As an added bonus, there's no phone signal, making it the perfect place to switch off and unwind.
We'd definitely recommend this campsite and would happily stay again.
