  • Spacious site between the Yorkshire Dales and Forest of Bowland
  • Within half an hour of the Three Peaks, Malham Cove and Gisburn Forest
  • Fully-licensed bar, shop and a popular pizza oven; bike storage
Got a bike? Get on it and pedal over to Dalesbridge, a cycle-friendly site between the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland. Spacious and family-run, it is within half an hour's drive of all three Yorkshire Three Peaks for hikes up Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent. First things first, though, head to the on-site shop to collect some local information and a map of the local area; many walking and cycling routes begin directly from the site. There is lockable bike storage on site for your valued two-wheeled vehicles, as well as a cycle wash area so you can hose the mud off after long days up hills and down dales. Half an hour’s drive away is the Gisburn Forest, where mountain bikers of all ages, fitness and nerve can pedal a route to suit. The Dales trails and Bowland bike paths aren't the only thing to look forward to, as Dalesbridge is a peaceful family site with spectacular scenery in all directions. There’s ample room, staff who are happy to help, and most importantly for mountain roamers returning with a thirst, a fully licensed bar (open at certain times). There is also a pizza oven and an on-site shop, where you can stop off for coffee, rolls and pastries at the weekend. Based in Austwick, the site is a 10-minute drive from the historic local market town Settle which has shops and supermarkets. The Settle-Carlisle railway is also a short drive away.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The pitch is really flat! Perfect for camping. Grounds were kept beautiful. Staff were all really friendly. A lovely relaxing environment with lots to do round about. Cheese shop nearby, loads of grocery places & we went on a day trip to do the Emmerdale Village Tour. Very welcoming bar onsite & clean facilities. Plenty of water outlets around site. Very accessible for everything we needed.

Disliked: The small onsite shop could be open a bit more consistently but this is my only dislike & it was just mildly inconvenient

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Calm and helpful checking in system. Map of pitches and amenities was given on arrival. My friends were arriving the next day , but we all manage to pitch together . Pizza Hut for pizzas were a lovely addition to our stay and again the staff were pleasant and adapted our order times without any fuss due to late return . Will definitely be returning for a future stay.

Disliked: Could do with a few more showers or shower spaces without toilets as sometimes had to wait for toilets as people were showering. Can get very muddy , it rained a lot when we were there .

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The overall site was calm and quiet, very natural and a good space for children to play. The facilities were very good, the showers were well-maintained.

Disliked: There was some mess around (e.g. Old pegs left in pitches and even found a dog poo). Also there wasn't a park for the children which would've been a bonus. Was not shown too the allocated pitch, which made erecting the tent awkward as we were not 100% sure what space we were to use.

Local attractions

Starting 10 minutes away, the walk to Ingleton Falls is gentle but rewarding, and even though you’re heading deep down instead of up, the caverns and wild rock formations of Whitescar and Ingleborough caves make for unmissable wanders. For walks with wildlife, make the half-hour trip to Malham Cove, where a pair of nesting peregrine falcons can be spotted in the summer months, alongside resident populations of jackdaws and housemartins. You can climb the massive amphitheatre cliffs of the cove, or follow trails up and around taking in the glacial Malham Tarn and Janet’s Foss waterfall. To see some wildlife at closer quarters, the Settle Falconry Centre (five minutes' drive) has daily displays of flying and feeding and if you feel you’d like to soar through the skies, the Ribble Viaduct section of the Settle-Carlisle Railway makes a fair imitation. If all this outdoor, high altitude stuff has made you peckish, head over to the Wensleydale Creamery (40 minutes) to learn how the famed crumbly cheese is made… and then sample some, but of course.
