Looking for somewhere that suits the whole family – including the dog? You’ve struck gold with Scarborough West Ayton Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite, a leafy North Yorkshire hideaway set across several acres of greenery in the village of West Ayton. The kids should certainly not get bored here, what with pool and ping-pong tables in the games pavilion plus huge outdoor play areas with swings, slides, a multisports court and room to kick a ball around. Dog owners can exercise their pets at the on-site dog walk, while the hiking and cycling trails of the North York Moors National Park are a mere five minutes’ drive and North Sea beaches are 15 minutes away by car. This site is managed by the Caravan and Motorhome Club, and it’s open to non-members as well as members, with discounted rates for members. The price displayed is the member rate; non-members will need to pay the £15/night extra or buy a £69 membership. Membership is worth considering if you’re likely to spend more than four nights at a Club site over the coming year – it brings discounts at more than 140 UK sites, plus other perks including access to tailored caravan/motorhome insurance, discounts on days out and savings on top brands. Pitches at this site are nicely spacious, and the facilities include a well-kept amenities block with disabled and family washrooms, showers and washing-up sinks. If you’re short on sightseeing info, you should find all you need in the information hut.

  • The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

  • Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.

Occupancy

  • No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Pitches

  • A cable measuring at least 25 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.

Vehicles

  • Units longer than 8.5 metres are not allowed.
  • If you choose the membership option, your membership details will be issued within five working days once the booking is fully paid. A 14-day cooling-off period from the booking date allows for cancellation of the membership and a refund of any fees paid.

Do not follow satnav into Yedmondale Road in West Ayton to access the site. This road is not suitable for large vehicles. Please use the access on Cochrah Road, West Ayton. From the south on the A64: 1.25 miles past the roundabout at the junction with the A1039, keep left onto B1261 (signposted Seamer, Thirsk, A170). In 3.25 miles, continue onto the A170 (signposted Thirsk) in East Ayton; within 0.5 mile (at the end of the dual carriageway in West Ayton), turn right into Cockrah Road. The site entrance is on the right in 0.5 mile. From the west on the A170: 150 yards past the 30mph sign at West Ayton, turn left into Cockrah Road. The site entrance is on the right in 0.5 mile. Avoid the A170 between Thirsk and Sproxton (Sutton Bank) by following the route via Coxwold, Wass and Ampleforth. Caravans are banned at Sutton Bank; follow the advisory signposts.
