Get your walking boots and bicycles ready for action… Orchard Lodge, just off the A1039 in the North Yorkshire village of Flixton, is a quiet little site where you should be able to relax, listen to the birds chirping in the trees and look up into dark starry skies on clear nights. But despite its quiet rural location, it’s also well located for exploring – you’ll be right on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, about 10 minutes’ drive from the coast and 15 minutes or so from the southern end of the North York Moors National Park. Even aside from that, this is a fabulous place to stay, with just a couple of pitches in a peaceful spot that’s set up for adults only. The owners are experienced former motorhomers themselves and well aware of what guests need for a comfortable stay. That means you’ll have access to electric and water hook-ups; they’ll also give you a hand with wastewater and grey water emptying if you ask. Guests will need on-board facilities, as there are no on-site toilet and shower facilities.

Liked What a beautiful place. We had the whole orchard to ourselves in our T5 campervan and the night skies were virtually light polution free and perfect for stargazing. Would highly recommend for a peaceful retreat to turn off from everything. Thank you Andrew, Lucinda and Inga for being so welcoming and making our first visit to you so lovely. Liked idyllic stay in a working orchard. Only 2 campervan pitches so wont ever be busy and noisy! Lovely owners who are friendly and chatty and on hand to help with set up.
The on site restaurant offers a 4 or 6 course taster menu which you would be a fool to miss although not obligatory to your stay.
The garden is beautiful with the use of a summerhouse.

Liked Lovely couple of nights stay. Very friendly hosts. The orchard is very peaceful with the sound of birds.in the back ground. 15 minutes to Filey Water available and Ehu at additional cost but we did not need it. Toilets available until restaurant closes. You can also have a drink in third snug or in garden room. Will definitely be back

Liked A basic but beautiful site. Our first trip out and the owners could not have been more helpful - from greeting us and helping us get parked up to support with electricity and water, they were great. We ate in the restaurant on Saturday and the tasting menu was a delicious surprise. The Wolds restaurant is worth a visit in its own right.

Turn your sights south for walks and bike rides in the gently hilly landscapes of the Yorkshire Wolds, or look north for the North York Moors National Park, where you can go mountain biking and try the Go Ape course at Dalby Forest (35 minutes’ drive) or opt for a more leisurely day out on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Pickering (half an hour). Over at the coast, you may like to visit the long sandy beach in Filey (10 minutes) or drive a little further to Scarborough (20 minutes) for the open-air theatre, castle and Sea Life Centre as well as the beach. If you don’t fancy the sea, you can swim at Scarborough’s Alpamare UK or bound across the inflatables at North Yorkshire Water Park (20 minutes). Elsewhere at the coast, look out for birds at RSPB Bempton Cliffs (25 minutes) or see if you can spot seals at Hunmanby Gap (15 minutes).
