Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Peaceful, clean, toilet/shower and washing up facilities. Staff not intrusive, just went about their tasks (cleaning the facilities, emptying the bins). I loved Oliver's Mount, prior to our visit and that has been enhanced by the new camping facilities. My wife, I and our dog had a wonderful time. It's peaceful, clean and has everything we required. A scenic backdrop, not far from civilisation, but far enough to forget about all of that everyday "stuff". We were in a van and tent, a couple of chairs/tables and a privacy screen. There were other visitors in a range of different vehicles: Motorhome; small car and one person tent; VW van with pop-up roof/awning; 2 - 4 person tents. If you need to stay in touch with loved ones etc, well my "mifi" worked perfectly (that runs over 4g) as did our data usage via Three. The toilet facilities were clean and cleaned regularly, the outside sink, for washing up pots and pans etc was very nice and provided hot and cold water. Everyone kept themselves to themselves, which suited me and the Dogs had plenty of space to call their own. I'll be back again before the site closes over winter.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Liked the campsite and the host was welcoming.

Disliked: The noisy group that kept us awake past 1am. The directions to get to the site were a little confusing.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thnaks for the good review Patsy despite the noisy group you encountered. We have areas you can go to be far away from anyone, but campsite courtesy late at night should be expected from other guests. We will keep an eye on that and any potentially noisy groups in future.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: The site was very well kept. Trigger was always around emptying bins, keeping the toilets clean and stocked up. As it was the end of August the site wasn’t rammed with people, so we managed to have a decent sized pitch. You get your own bin to keep things tidy and also you get a pub bench too which was a nice idea.

Disliked: Nothing.

From the manager: Thanks for the nice review. The site is huge, so even at peak times, you will always get plenty of space if you want it.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: The simplicity of the site and the location was great. Site was well maintained and peaceful. The location is 15mins from main bus route and around a 40min walk to the south cliff. Toilets and showers were basic but kept very clean.

Disliked: Not well sign posted and needed up doing a few laps of the track before finding it.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the feedback, we will definitely improve signage for next season and hopefully the maps included in the welcome email from now on will help too.

Space and peace.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Lots of space, friendly chap helping. For just starting out this is a good site and walkable to the seafront.

Disliked: Could do with additional showers and washing up, but they are just starting and know this.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the great review, and yes, you're right, we could definitely do with more showers for next season.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The price and the location. The view over Scarborough was fantastic. Ian is the salt of the earth and nothing was too much for him.

Disliked: Cut grass not collected, luckily it must have been cut when it was long so it didn't fill the tent with grass cuttings.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the nice review. The fields are so big we have to cut them by tractor which unfortunately can't collect the cuttings.

Local attractions

Scarborough’s two sandy beaches (South Bay and North Bay) are separated by a headland topped by the ruins of a medieval castle. At the back of North Bay, the Scarborough Open Air Theatre puts on live music by big international names, and there are more events at the elegant Scarborough Spa, built in the late 19th century. Residents at Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park (10 minutes’ drive) include meerkats, lemurs and alpacas, plus friendly farmyard animals that enjoy being fed (please only use the site-approved feed bags, though). From there, drive a further five minutes to Filey Brigg Cliffs, where you might spot puffins flying overhead. Keen to have a go at paddleboarding or kayaking, but nervous to do it in open water? Head to North Yorkshire Water Park (25 minutes), where you can try these (and other) watersports, or just bounce, slide and splash around the inflatable adventure course.
