  • Quiet family-run site less than three miles from Flamingo Land
  • Fishing available in the bordering river
  • Fifteen minutes' walk from Pickering town centre
Sssh… Ingledene Beckside Campsite is a gloriously quiet site. Which is just as well considering that it's only a few miles from Flamingo Land, as you might need a peaceful place to pitch up afterwards… Ingledene is set down a quiet lane and surrounded by fields on the bank of Pickering Beck, but is also in an excellent locale for conveniences and to see some of the best spots of North Yorkshire: Dalby Forest is nearby, Scarborough is about 15 miles away and trips on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway are within half a mile. Restaurants, pubs and the wine bar of old market town Pickering are 15 minutes' walk away. Ingledene Beckside's pitching area is in a grassed paddock with good parking space, next to a river that guests can fish in (you'll need to bring your rod licence). The site also has a toilet and shower block with water and grey water and chemical toilet disposal. This is a peaceful site, so music isn't permitted on site and guests are asked to start quieting down by around 10.30pm at night; quiet hours are in force after 11pm.

What customers say

This is a small, quiet, friendly site praised for its excellent location within a short walk of Pickering town centre and its clean, well-maintained facilities. Guests appreciated the helpful owners, free WiFi, and peaceful atmosphere. Minor drawbacks included overgrown fishing access and occasional crowding when busy. Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Small site, with just a 10 minute walk into Pickering.town centre. Toilets and showers very clean. With free WiFi
States fishing on site but this was overgrown and the beck, my partner was not able to fish.
When we arrived it was very busy, with all the pitches took, which made it feel a bit cramped but the next few nights it quietened down with people leaving and it didn’t feel as busy. Would return.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Large grass pitch in centre of site close to town centre with good hot shower and washing facilities. James was very helpful and informative on our arrival and ideally situated with good transport facilities to explore further afield in the North Yorks Moors or Cleveland Coastal Walk.

Disliked Nothing.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked WiFi was excellent. Clean camp site. Very peaceful. Easy short walk to a great dog walking park. Easy walk into town. Well located for travelling around Yorkshire

Disliked Our main gripe is the lack of eating places in Pickering. Needs more than two showers when the campsite is busy and full which it was both weekends at each end of our week. The cleaner could do with looking up at the ceilings when next going in to clean.

From the manager: Hello and thank you for your comments. We are sorry that the electricity was turned off during your stay. this was done by Northern Powergrid to carry out maintenance in the Pickering area. Unfortunately it was unavoidable and out of our control. Regards Manager

Local attractions

Pick some time in Pickering to kick off your holiday activities or to potter round its popular attractions like Pickering Castle, social history showcase Beck Isle Museum and the town's twelfth-century parish church. Its swimming pool is five minutes' walk from Ingledene Beckside Campsite. Pickering is also the terminus for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which steams through 18 miles of moorland on its route to Whitby (where you should plan to spend at least an afternoon exploring). Lots of walking and biking trails start close to the site, including loads in Dalby Forest where there's also a Go Ape for tree-swingers, and in the North York Moors National Park immediately to the north. Other popular places to see nearby are Eden Camp, recreating the sights and sounds of World War II; seaside town Scarborough and its surrounds of Filey and Bridlington; and a day in grand old York.
