From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to leave a review of your stay on our site. We send out arrival information to you prior to your arrival so that you can plan your route and know where you are heading once you arrive on site. No need to be queuing up in Reception! We are always around on site and happy to chat and help out if we can so don't hesitate to ring our number and we can come and find you if we are not in Reception. Additional nights are available if your pitch isn't needed and we are happy to fit you in where we can. The weather is improving and we have lots of happy customers, keen to explore the National Park and enjoy all the local eateries and things to do in the area.

From the manager: Thanks for your review. Your photos are lovely and we can see you made use of the dog walk. We put waste bins at regular intervals to encourage you to clean up after your dog and to save you then carrying it with you! It's a great walk to et off some steam and take in the great views towards Rosedale and Blakey Ridge over to Whitby. Our staff don't like standing in Reception so we encourage them to be out and about and they are happy to chat and help where they can. Glad you enjoyed your stay!

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We hope to welcome you back some time, once you've completed your northern travels! We will pass on your kind comments to our team here, they work hard and are delighted to know you've had a good time. The farm walk is so popular with the great views half way round across the moors towards the roads leading to Rosedale Chimney and Blakey Top. We snowplough in the winter on those roads, it can get quite deep! We were happy to play postman too, but thanks for checking !!

From the manager: Thanks for leaving a review. The changeable weather has certainly helped our grass grow very green already this year and we've therefore been kept busy on the mower.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your stay on our site. Our staff work hard to keep things clean and we are fortunate to have some great guests who leave it tidy! If you're struggling to find us don't forget you can check your map when planning your trip and always give us a ring if you think you might not be able to find us. We are just off the road into Hutton Le Hole off the A170, over the cattle grid and we are on your left, heading north.

Bell tent

Liked: Our stay was in a bell tent which was amazing, so confortable, decorated beautifully with really thoughtful touches and welcome treats. The site is immaculate with excellent facilities though not many toilets for the amount of people.

Disliked: The fact that the bell tents are in the same field as the campers in tents. We had a family group of around 25 people in 6 or 7 tents directly behind us and although I'm sure individually they weren't noisy people, collectively they were with music playing, kids running around our area and dogs off their leads barking and being shouted at. I know it was the kids holidays so did expect a little noise at times. We have camped ourselves for the last 30 years but have taken to glamping in recent times as the units tend to be in quieter areas wherever we've been. Maybe we just got unlucky this time as it would have been so perfect and peaceful if the tents were just a little further away.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to leave a review of your stay in one of our bell tents. If necessary we do use the far side of the glamping field for other tents and on that particular bank holiday weekend we had a family group booked in to spend some time together during the school holiday.

Local attractions

The park is well set for the North York Moors National Park and its many attractions, or for free range wandering around the area's market towns, garden centres and farm shops. Two fab family options are a short drive away: the theme park and the UK's most visited zoo of Flamingo Land, within 20 minutes, and spectacularly scenic rides on the North York Moors Railway, starting at Pickering 15 minutes' drive from the farm. The railway winds up at Whitby, another fab option for families, sand seekers and vampire hunters. Some stunning walks are around if you're here to hike, such as the 109-mile Cleveland Way starting at Helmsley (15 minutes' drive) to run all the way to the coast at Saltburn. For a fully coastal walk, you could also tackle the Wolds Way, starting at Hessle about an hour and a half's drive south, to end up at Filey on a 79-mile route. Other local options include Ryedale Folk Museum, a mile and a half away, the local lavender farms, and a look at the scented trade at Yorkshire Lavender at Terrington and Wolds Way Lavender in Wintringham, both within 35 minutes' drive.
