View South from the Caravan

General

  • Single static on a working farm: have the site to yourself
  • Own enclosed parking and garden area
  • Views across the site garden and the Vale of York beyond

Cosy stays, fab views, warm welcomes and quiet private hols are all guaranteed at Helmsley's Beadlam Rigg: there's only one static caravan on the entire site, so no need to share the place with anyone else. And it's in the North York Moors National Park too – you'll most likely think this site is a win and then yet another win.

The static has its own enclosed parking and garden area – really, you won't have to share any of your hol with anyone else – and is set adjacent to the farmyard with those fab views stretching south across the site garden and the Vale of York beyond.

It's a modern, spacious and well insulated caravan with central heating, double glazing and free wifi, sleeping up to six – you might find that farm cat Blue waits outside for the occasional cuddle too...

The shops and eating establishments of Helmsley are a short drive away, but if you fancy being organised, sort deliveries from Tesco, Asda or Sainsbury's straight to your static: a good-sized fridge and freezer are inside for stashing all your eats.

Please note

Dogs are not allowed in the accommodation units.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Single-sex bookings of 4 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

From the manager...

Thank you for your comments and I am glad to hear that you have said that you would stay again, however as I advised at checking in, please feel free to alter the heating as you require or advise me if you need help. Whilst I pre-programmed it before you arrived, its hard to tell how hot people like to have it and I can't do anything about this unless I know.
WIth regard to being scored 2/5 for activities I think this is a little unfair. We do not market ourselves as being anything different to what we are. We are located in a quiet setting (other than the farm traffic) with no passing traffic and we are surrounded by open countryside with miles of walks and bike rides to enjoy the National Park setting. At the caravan there is a TV & DVD player and free access to WiFi and a small garden area to play in. If you required something more may I suggest that you consider this at the time of booking.
People with children generally love the fact that we are only around 45 mins from numerous activities in the area to provide a wide variety of days out such as visits to York and the Coast, but there is so much more to see an do within Helmsley and Ryedale too.

Owner was very friendly and went out of her way ...01/03/2019

Owner was very friendly and went out of her way (she came to pick us up when we got stuck in the nearby village!) The children from the farm were very friendly to ours.
The caravan is spacious and clean and the kitchen has a good array of utensils. Shower was really powerful and hot! :)

    Disliked:

one minor downside for us was the small space in which the caravan sits and its proximity to the house - a fence separates the plot from the owner's garden/ farm - so better suited for a stay where you plan to out a lot, as if you plan to spend time just sat outside the caravan you could feel hemmed in/ or that you are intruding on the family that own the farm.

From the manager...

Thank you for your comments and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay, and I admire your resourcefulness of trying to get to us on public transport alone!!
The caravan is a "farm stay" which appeals to a lot of people. It is sited between our garden and the farm so you can see the animals being fed and the tractors coming and going. The area around the caravan is securely fenced for your safety to stop little people straying on their own, and provides a space for the kids to run around whilst parents are getting things ready for the day. We are happy to show anyone around the farm, but this needs to be supervised for H&S reasons.

What a great place to stay. We have thoroughly enjoyed a week here in the farm owners warm, clean static caravan. The hosts and children are very friendly. There are great views all around. We visited Helmsley, Pickering(lovely), York and Thirsk (again). We walked down to Beadlam Grange for lunch which was a great destination with good home cooking. We would all recommend this site.

We thought Beadlam Rigg was great. The caravan was very spacious and really comfortable. The kids are at a stage where they wanted a room each, so the three bedrooms were ideal. The caravan is quite remote but that suited us. It was really peaceful and the walks on your doorstep were fantastic. A 10-15 minute drive to the lovely town of Helmsley and a great base for visiting the North York Moors and around. An absolute bargain

I guess the WiFi didn't work for you as the next guests said they couldn't log on when they arrived. All it took was a simple switch on and off at our end of the supply. Please let us know if anything isn't working as expected and we'd be happy to look into it, but if we don't know...we can't fix it! ;o)

Local attractions

In the North York Moors National Park, half an hour from Dalby Forest, an hour from York and the Yorkshire coast at Scarborough and Whitby... this caravan is in a crackingly convenient location. North Yorkshire market towns like Pickering and Kirkbymoorside are also within easy driving distance.

As it's the North York Moors, opportunities are all around to go walking, cycling or horse riding in the surrounds: Helmsley, Kirkmoorbyside and Pickering as well as Malton are in the Ryedale area of North Yorkshire, known for its dales, hills and moor, ancient heritage going back to the seventh century (looking at you, Rievaulx Abbey), walks along the Cleveland Way and the Wolds Way, and many traditional markets.

Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Bridlington and the rest of the Yorkshire coast can be reached about an hour from Beadlam Rigg. As well as the usual seaside shenanigans, take time to go birdwatching, fossil hunting, historic house hunting and on nights out in the area's pubs and restaurants.
