View to linton village from the camping field

  • Pop-up North Yorkshire campsite five minutes’ walk from Grassington
  • Bolton Abbey 25 minutes’ drive; Stump Cross Caverns 10 minutes
  • Spectacular River Wharfe and Yorkshire Dales National Park views
Wow, it’s a splendid view of the River Wharfe that you get from the pitches at Grassington Campsite. If you’re looking for a back-to-basics Yorkshire camping adventure with the kids during the school summer holidays, this spot surely must be on your list. A pop-up campsite with grass pitches, it’s five minutes’ walk from the centre of Grassington, gateway to expeditions throughout the scenic Yorkshire Dales National Park. There are shops in the village for stocking up on foodie treats, and you can abandon self-catering to head for local cafés and tea rooms, or perhaps check out a traditional Yorkshire pub – there are several inviting options within 10 minutes’ drive. If you get your timing right, you may get to see stars of the small screen filming ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ in Grassington – but what is guaranteed, however, is that you can walk stretches of the Dales Way directly from the campsite (bring any dogs to join in the fun). The amenities back on site include a toilet trailer with ladies and gents toilets and a unisex shower trailer. There is no electricity, so bring torches for finding your way back to your pitch after dark.

What customers say

This campsite offers stunning views and an excellent location, just a 5-minute walk from Grassington village with its shops and pubs. Visitors praised the friendly and helpful owners, and the clean toilet and shower facilities, noting the spacious changing areas. Pitches are generally flat and well-spaced. Some minor drawbacks mentioned include limited showers, a lack of electricity and a pot wash facility, and the site's seasonal availability.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Perfect quiet location very close to centre of Grassington and nice flat pitch for our campervan. Facilities are basic but clean and showers were great. One of the best places we’ve stayed will definitely come back again.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked The location could not be better. Set on the edge of town on the main road (B6265) and a 10 minute stroll into the town centre. Right on the Dales Way footpath.
Open field with elevated views across the river Wharfe towards Linton.
The amenities include M/F toilets and a double shower block. Well maintained and spotlessly clean.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Lovely site on the edge of town with good views over the river and onto the hills

Disliked Only two showers at the moment, wasn't a problem for us but if the site was busy you might need to queue.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (backpacker, no cars)

Liked The view was amazing, host was lovely and the campsite was clean and quiet

Disliked Very basic facilities that could do with some TLC, only two showers. Not much to say here, lovely place with not much negative to say.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (backpacker, no cars)

Liked The location is excellent. Stunning views yet close enough to walk into Grassington. Heaps of walks straight from site. Pitches are mostly flat with short grass. The toilet block was well looked after as were the showers. Theres one sink for washing up but only provides cold water. Altogether a brilliant pop up site

Disliked Nothing to dislike, except that due it being a pop up, it's not available all summer

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked We loved the view looking out onto the river and the hills. It was a small field, but everyone had enough space for tents and cars. Jason the owner ,was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. Well definitely back next year. Also the site is just a 5 min walk into Grassington. What more do you need ?

Disliked The toilets were lovely and clean. I didn't use the portable shower block . Didn't like how it was unisex. The owner explained why it wasn't allowed, due to planning and drainage etc. But they were still clean and had lovely hot water,as my husband used them

Local attractions

There’s more than enough to do around Grassington to keep the whole family happy. Let the kids have a run around among the bewitching follies and water fountains at The Forbidden Corner (45 minutes’ drive), and for an active family day scrambling around on zipwires, make for Raven Tree Top Adventure (20 minutes). At Bolton Abbey (25 minutes), wander among spectacular church ruins, take the stepping stones across the River Wharfe and watch open-air cinema in summer months. Close by is Hesketh Farm Park (25 minutes), where the whole family can pet farm animals and get lost in the straw maze. Hit a rainy day? No problem; take a trip deep underground to see prehistoric fossils and limestone formations at Stump Cross Caverns (10 minutes). To explore the dales on two legs, stroll down to Linton Falls (10 minutes’ walk) from your pitch and follow the Dales Way down to Hebden Suspension Bridge (half an hour). For wild dales views, circumnavigate the lake at Grimwith Reservoir (five minutes’ drive), and for more demanding hikes, follow the way-marked route up to the top of Simon’s Seat (20 minutes) to look out over Barden Fell.
