  • Family-run site on the edge of a peaceful Holderness village
  • A 10-minute drive from Withernsea; Spurn Head 15 minutes
  • Just over half a mile from the coast and spectacular clifftop scenery
Heading to Holderness for a camping holiday? A bright idea indeed, as this peaceful part of the East Riding coast has spectacular scenery and is dotted with an array of pretty villages. Right in the middle of it all is Elm Tree Farm, a relaxed site in the quiet village of Holmpton. Location isn’t everything, though, and Elm Tree Farm has a fair few other perks worth noting. For starters, the fact that the site is family-run (and by a dog-friendly family at that) means that you can expect a laidback, uncommercial approach to camping here. The facilities are in good shape too – there are three toilets and hot showers on site alongside washing-up facilities, plus little extras like a fridge and microwave that guests are welcome to use. It’s kitted out technologically too, with USB ports for easy phone charging and wifi across the whole site. Withernsea (10 minutes’ drive) is down the road for supermarkets and takeaways, while the popular village of Patrington (10 minutes) has award-winning fish and chips and cafés.

What customers say

This is a small, quiet, and friendly farm campsite with well-maintained facilities including clean toilets and showers, a washing-up area, and a communal kitchen. Guests praise the welcoming and helpful hosts, Gina and Nick, who offer extras like breakfast sandwiches and local ales. While some found beach access difficult in winter and noted extra charges for showers, most highly recommend the site for its peaceful atmosphere and excellent value, with many planning to return.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Pleased to receive a warm welcome once we arrived onsite. Large pitches in a small sheltered campsite. Everything was well kept and clean.

The wash room was full of useful local information and lending library.

Disliked For our short 2 night stay, there was nothing to dislike about the site. It is a shame that the local pub has closed.

Disliked Facilities were lacking and what was there needs updating, the price paid was overpriced for what ya got

From the manager: This is an extremely disappointing review and I would question why this customer has waited 2 months to post it!!! We are open all year round but obviously, as we only have a small number of guests during the winter and early spring months, we don’t have all our facilities open to save on costs. This customer was on the site with just one other at the time. Our washroom was fully open with a toilet, shower, washing up sink, fridge, microwave, kettle, book borrowing library and washing machine all available for just 2 people to use!!!! There is a constant, copious amount of unlimited hot water and all for £25 per night which is a price fully in line with all other local campsites. We do have an extra 2 toilets and showers in a separate block which are open during our busy months. It’s very frustrating when a customer gives a poor score for something that could probably have been sorted out if they had come and asked us about - ie, Wifi.

Liked we liked the location and the site it was quiet but i think charging us extra for electricity when the site fee is a lot for nothing is a little steep. We didn't use that much power and the electricity as we had our heating on gas for one day. so must be set very high.they are lovely people and i cant say we wont go back.

Local attractions

Pitching up here means being within striking distance of the sea pretty much throughout your stay, whether you’re wandering down to the nearest cliffs (half a mile’s walk) or heading further off to the windswept shores of Spurn National Nature Reserve and its discovery centre (15 minutes’ drive) or the classic seaside resort of Bridlington (an hour). Also by the coast, Withernsea (10 minutes) has points of interest that ought to keep you amused for a good few hours, with an intriguing inland lighthouse that stands in the centre of the town and well-maintained amenities at the Pavilion Leisure Centre, where you can take a dip at the pool or work up a sweat in the gym. Further afield, Hull’s Museums Quarter (40 minutes) will be of interest to anyone keen on archeology or William Wilberforce and the abolition of slavery. While in town, the kids won’t want to miss the sea creatures housed at The Deep aquarium; if they’ve still got energy to burn after that you can always take them ice skating at Hull Arena.
