This is a highly recommended, peaceful woodland campsite offering a true wild camp experience. Visitors praise the friendly hosts, secluded pitches nestled amongst trees, and the opportunity to connect with nature. Amenities are basic but clean, including a water tap and compost toilet, contributing to the off-grid charm. The site is ideal for those seeking quiet, relaxation, and a back-to-basics escape. Some guests enjoyed having the site to themselves, whilst others appreciated the communal fire pit area. The campsite is well-described and suitable for families and solo travellers alike.

Peaceful, safe small site. Can be a bit chaotic and tight when busy.
Non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Surrounded by trees and land. Quiet location. Felt safe and secure.
Disliked One toilet. Although it states you can 'wild wee', when the campsite is busy as it was when we were there, that's quite difficult to do privately. Therefore the compost toilet became pretty full, and there would be a queue which you would make eye contact with whilst using due to the gaps in the door haha.
Can be tight and a bit chaotic when busy. Some people were allowed cars next to tents, others werent. No clear car access/road through the trees and saw cars hit them multiple times. Tight for a small campervan/large car

Excellent site for a wild camp feel, set in small secluded woodland
Non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Perfect site for a wild camp feel! The owner messaged me during my arrival day with all the details and arrangements I needed. The site for camping is set in a secluded wooded area, beautiful setting for camping with pitches and communal areas hidden amongst the woodland clearings. Water tap and a clean and well maintained compost toilet provides the basics for a wild camp. I even had the site to myself for the night. Will definitely stay again!

Non-electric grass and earth motorhome pitch
Liked We had a brilliant overnight stay at Rosehip Wood with our young grandchildren — arriving midday Tuesday and leaving by 11am Wednesday. To our delight, we had the whole site to ourselves, which sent the kids gleefully into full Lord of the Flies mode (the joyful kind, thankfully!).
Cooking over coals, toasting marshmallows, and stargazing before bed — it was everything you want from proper wild camping. The simplicity of the site really adds to the charm. There’s fresh drinking water and a compost loo, which some might consider “basic,” but for our grandchildren, it was a perfect little reality check and part of the adventure.
We had the bonus of our campervan’s leisure batteries, solar, and an outdoor shower — but to be honest, it’s the raw experience that makes Rosehip Wood special. A peaceful, off-grid escape that gives children (and adults) a gentle reminder of how little we actually need.
We’ll definitely be back — but this time, maybe with a few more marshmallows!
