What customers say
This is a beautiful, peaceful, and well-maintained farm site with spacious pitches and stunning countryside views. Guests particularly praise the excellent fishing lakes, friendly and accommodating owners, and the overall relaxed atmosphere. While facilities are basic, toilets are consistently reported as clean and tidy. Deer and other wildlife are often spotted, adding to the tranquil experience. Minor points for consideration include the lack of on-site showers and occasional issues with dog leads.

 Electric optional gravel touring pitch
Liked Been coming here quite regular over the last year or so. Got to be about 5/6 times and it’s always been a pleasure. Well kept site
Disliked This time will unfortunately be the last time we use this site,
I was approached by the site owner whilst I was emptying the toilet of all jobs.
Accused of using extremely power hungry appliances as apparently I had used over £14 of electric through the night well from 6pm the night before. Accused of using awning heaters although I hadn’t put my awning up all weekend.
The worst bit was that my daughter reported to me since I got home that the site owner was walking around our caravan having a good look. Wish I had known this whilst I was there.
So, unfortunately this will be our last visit to Clay Farm. I like this site due to being quite but feel a bit put out from today’s experience

From the manager: I am sorry you recall the conversation in this way as it certainly isn't miine.
I checked all pitches in the morning to see which hook-up each was connected to and I spoke with all guests who were out and about, including your daughter who was packing the car boot. I picked up some small litter between your car and the empty pitch.
You were leaving and emptying your toilet waste but actually stopped to assist your daughter dragging the wastewater. You didn’t have to stop emptying the cassette to talk to me.
At no time did suggest you had an awning heater, as you clearly had no awning, but said in the past it had been an awning heater which caused an excessive usage. I asked about usage as I was concerned it might be our new system error rather than your caravan that was causing the excessive use.
I explained that we have just fitted a new system which will go live shortly where all hook-ups are monitored (and guests will pay for electric used) and you used £13:85 overnight; the next nearest was £6:55. We charge £5 per night at the moment for electric.
You paid £43 for the weekend, Pitchup take a commission and pay us £34:73. We pay VAT so receive £29:99. We know that between 6pm to 10am you used £13:85 (44.66kwh), so it is likely that your stay actually cost us money.
Other guests used between 4.5kwh and 21kwh, it seemed only reasonable to ask if you had any special equipment that might have been in use. I am hoping that future guests will welcome paying only for the electric they use and that they can monitor their caravans to ensure they are not costing them excessively.
I thank you for your previous custom, but on this occasion I believe I asked a perfectly reasonable enquiry of a guest who was preparing to leave. It would have been foolish to wait until you drove out!
You are welcome to return once the PAYG system is fully operational.
