With spectacular views over Worcestershire’s Malvern Hills and Teme Valley, Malvern Views Pop-up Campsite at Lower Gurnox Farm has simple grassy pitches in the paddocks of a working farm and livery yard. At this glorious spot, you’re surrounded by rural beauty and you’ll be hard-pushed to believe you’re only a five-minute drive away from the handy A44 between Worcester and Leominster. Luxury showers and a toilet block are available on site, and barbecues are permitted, too. If you feel like cosying up around a campfire of an evening, you can pick up supplies at a small convenience store in Martley (five minutes), the local village. If cooking’s not your bag, there are loads of pubs in less than a 15-minute drive, where you can get a great meal and equally good local beer. The historic village of Bromyard (15 minutes) is worth a peek for its ancient, half-timbered houses, and Worcester (20 minutes) has some smashing sights, including the towering, Gothic cathedral, a fascinating pottery collection at the Museum of Royal Worcester, and leafy walks along the Severn river. An added bonus – the owners live on site, so you can go off for the day to explore safe in the knowledge that your stuff stays nice and secure back at camp.

Local attractions

Pony rides are available at the farm (an extra charge), there’s a skate park in Martley (five minutes’ drive) and numerous coarse fisheries in less than 20 minutes’ drive, where you can get in a day’s fishing for carp. Golf courses are in abundance too; book ahead for a round on several 18-hole courses around 15 minutes away. Of course, you get a special view of the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (10 minutes) from your camping field, but they’re even better up close. You can hit the Worcestershire Way (10 minutes’ walk) or take a challenging hike along Malvern Ridge to the Worcestershire Beacon (30 minutes’ drive) for truly spectacular panoramas. For less strenuous days out, book ahead for tastings and vineyard tours at neighbouring Easing Hill Vineyard (five minutes’ walk), or drive to Witley Court and Gardens (15 minutes) for a nose around a ruined stately pile and its exotic water gardens.
