  • Well-equipped tipis in a Warwickshire wildlife haven
  • Camp in wildflower meadows with firepits outside each pitch
  • Four miles from Stratford-upon-Avon and close to the Cotswolds

Tipi or not tipi? Whichever pitch you pick at Twitey’s Tipis and Campsite near Shakespeareland in Warwickshire, we’re of a reckoning that you’ll want to stay forever and a day.

You’ll get a welcome worthy of Liz I; the site is teeming with local critters including deer, rabbits, buzzards and foxes scooting nearby/soaring overhead, and campfires are allowed outside both the tent pitches and the tipis. And you get to tip your kit – and possibly the kids – into a wheelbarrow to move all to your pitch, to which we say ‘genius’.

Twitey’s is a new site and has 14 acres of wilderness to bed down in: the wheelbarrow ingenuity is to keep the campsite and its wildflower meadows as near to wild camping as possible. Tent pitches are privately set in the meadows where only the grass on the pitches is cut, to which we say ‘hiding in long grass' and 'hurrah’. Firepits are outside each pitch and you can buy all the necessary firestarting kit on site.

Or book a Twitey tipi: they’re all made locally and come equipped with most of the equipment you need for Stratford-upon-Avon glamping: carpets, rugs and even candles are all laid on, and a firepit, trivet and stove are outside each tipi too.

To stock up on supplies and quench thirst, there are shops and pubs about a mile from Twitey’s and a café nearby – as good luck would have it…
