  • Peaceful rural Staffordshire site 20 minutes’ drive from Tamworth
  • National Memorial Arboretum and Twycross Zoo both 15 minutes’ drive
  • Working farm with horses grazing in fields; pub 25 minutes’ walk
If you want to be way off the well-trodden track in Staffordshire, then make a beeline for Cleat Hill Farm Caravan Site, just outside the hamlet of Haunton and 20 minutes’ drive from Tamworth. Why? Because it’s accessed down a three-mile gated lane, because it’s small with just a handful of pitches and because it’s a rural retreat with wildlife and a myriad of birds. Despite its remote location, there’s great access off the M42 to this simple and quiet 1.5-acre site with hardstanding pitches, electric hook-ups, an Elsan point and drinking water taps. Horses graze nearby, and there’s a footpath to Clifton Campville (25 minutes’ walk), which has a pub with great food. There’s also an Indian restaurant and takeaway in No Man’s Heath (10 minutes’ drive). A few words of warning: the site is on a working farm and sometimes tractors work in the fields. There may be farmyard smells and the camping field is not easy to mow after rain, so the grass can sometimes be a bit long. There’s an unfenced irrigation reservoir adjacent to the site. This is deep and the water is very cold, so swimming is strictly prohibited. Children must be supervised at all times; however, you are welcome to walk in the surrounding fields and try your hand at game fishing around the reservoir.

What customers say

This site offers a peaceful experience with good electric and water hook-ups, and pitches were generally liked. Some guests found the hard standing rocky and the Elsan point lacked a flush. Communication could be improved as the farmhouse was out of bounds. Despite some maintenance concerns, several visitors found the site relaxing, appreciated the reasonable price given the lack of facilities, and intend to return.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Not a lot very un cared for.

Disliked Very rocky hard standing. Soil all around the pitch. The elsan point had no flush on it so you couldn’t empty the thing. The sign said don’t go to the farm house so no one to speak to only on the phone. Not the usual clean site we expect for £25 a night

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Loved the site and pitch and had a relaxing bank holiday weekend. Really peaceful, nice walks including one to the Green Man Pub. Beautiful area and without doubt we will use this site again. Obviously the site doesn’t have a shower and toilet block however we have all these facilities on board and that is reflected in the very reasonable price!

Disliked Nothing at all
