Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked: Lovely place to stay. Lovely pub and park area for kids. Staff all friendly and helpful. Outside pizza hut serving food till 9pm

Electric optional gravel touring pitch

Liked: Lovely site, great views and pitches were generous so no feeling squished. The pub had a great atmosphere and lots of entertainment over the weekend. Staff and owner are so friendly and welcoming. Easy access from the M6 but feels like a very rural location although there are lots of amenities nearby. Lots of walks out from the campsite too. Some of our friends enjoyed it so much they booked to stay an extra night!

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked: A beautiful little spot with picturesque views over the valley and wildlife. Clean and well maintained spacious pitches and lovely relaxed atmosphere. The pub was lively with a great choice of beers and the live music was excellent quality and an added bonus. We used it as a stop off on the way back to Oxfordshire from the Lake District and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again

Disliked: Not a dislike but just be careful entering the site from the road if you have a long caravan as ours scraped the ground at the back so take it slow

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you Joe , Great to hear your comments , we are in a Great place here a Charlies and when people mention this it makes us think how lucky we are. Be great see you again in the Future to experience more of what we have to offer . Regards Team Charlies

Local attractions

This is an ace base for trips to Alton Towers (20 minutes’ drive) for folk who fancy riding rollercoasters like the Nemesis and Oblivion. Spend one day scampering among the top-class attractions here, then slow things down the next with countryside explores. The Peak District National Park (around 25 minutes) is full of walking paths, while other spots like Trentham Gardens (20 minutes) are top for traipsing round too. If checking out cheeky creatures is more your bag, head to Trentham Monkey Forest (20 minutes) and wander among the free-roaming animals. Around 140 Barbary macaques live in the woodlands and meadows here – make sure to look up and spot them swinging through the trees. Once you’ve snapped pics of the primates, set your sights on some of the market towns scattered around the area. Stone, a settlement on the Trent and Mersey Canal (15 minutes), is well-regarded for its food and drink options, while Cheadle (55 minutes), just outside the wood-covered Churnet Valley and the scenic Staffordshire Moorlands, is worth stopping in too.
