Set on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park, Brooklyn Grange Farm is a back-to-basics site on a family-run dairy farm surrounded by gorgeous Staffordshire countryside. The scenery here is varied indeed, with views over quiet fishing pools, grassy meadows and the spectacular rocky ridge known as The Roaches. You'll also be well placed to sample local produce at this small-scale site – you can head to the farm shop and light up a barbecue (as long as it's kept off the grass). If you don't have your own, there are firepits for hire from the farm shop and kindling and logs for sale. There's also a village pub and carvery around 10 minutes' walk away on the edge of Thorncliffe (with another around 10 minutes' walk way in Blackshaw Moor). For more flavours, try Leek (five minutes' drive), a local market town with a good range of restaurants, cafés and food shops. After a trip to town it's back to the countryside, where you might like to try a spot of catch-and-return fishing at one of the site's well-stocked ponds (for an extra fee; you must have an Environment Agency licence; no fishing available during the spawning season, which is generally in late May and/or early June). You could also take yourself off for a hike in the national park (a mile away), where there are many miles of well-mapped trails to explore. As for facilities, Brooklyn Grange Farm has functional and well-maintained toilets for guests. There is one shower available here (bookable for an extra charge at the farm shop), or you can take the option of travelling five minutes down the road to Brough Park Leisure Centre.

Liked: Great location, great views, friendly staff. There's only two unisex toilets but they're very clean and well stocked. The farm shop is also pretty well stocked with all sorts of items. The camping field is pretty level and has a cold water washing station and a drinking water tap. A great place to stay.

Liked: last min decision to visit after cutting short a hol to wales due to the horrendous weather , glad we came the weather was fab and campsite was very quiet so it was a very peaceful camp. sky cleared in the eve and was lovely to see 1000s of stars we had the perfect camp 👍

Liked: Can’t really say a bad word about this place. We stayed for the weekend and we had a fantastic time. Lakes could possibly be topped up with fish but other than that we were very happy with our stay.

Liked: Lovely calm site with stunning views of the roaches. If you just want to sit back and relax by your tent this is the spot. Lots of local walks close by like the roaches or Dovedale. My 3 yr old loved visiting the horse and donkeys with his 12yr old sister and her friend. Bbqs allowed with the choice to hire a camp fire from the farm shop which also sells lots of local fresh meat but also treats for the kids. Asda is only a ten minute drive away though if you need more things. Booked for one night but ended up staying two and currently still her until the morning.

Disliked: Nothing at all as it stated a basic site.

Make your way to the wild rides of Alton Towers (20 minutes' drive), the UK's biggest theme park. If your idea of fun doesn't include days full of white-knuckle rollercoaster rides, another family-friendly option is Peak Wildlife Park (10 minutes). For those rainy days, it's not far to reach Blaze Farm and The Potty Sheep (20 minutes), an ice cream farm which also organises paint-a-pot activities. For further agreeable outings, head to the Churnet Valley Railway (15 minutes) or the Manifold Valley (10 minutes) and Thor's Cave (20 minutes). You could go hiking and climbing at The Roaches (10 minutes), visiting Lud's Church (10 minutes) as an add-on. And where else to set your sights on? Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
There is no reception at this site. Please check in at the farm shop instead.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 2 day(s) of arrival.
Modifications are subject to a £5.00 fee.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.
