Eastridge Glamping: Electric barbecue grill

General

  • Luxury wooden camping pods in the Shropshire Hills
  • On the edge of Habberley; Shrewsbury 25 minutes’ drive
  • Rural glamping with electricity, heating, beds and an electric grill

Looking to pick a Pitchup pod? Eastridge Glamping is home to fab self-contained accommodation on a working farm on the northern edge of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The site backs onto the well-known Eastridge woodlands, a hilltop location where there are stunning views over the surrounding countryside and some top mountain bike trails to try out.

These high-spec pods are well-equipped with electricity, heating, a kettle and an electric barbecue grill. Each also has two stackable single beds that can be joined together to form a double, and there's also plenty of space for extra airbeds or roll-out mattresses. Well-maintained shared toilets and showers are a short walk away from the accommodation.

This site is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area and has an abundance of footpaths, bridleways and local trails. Handily, the pods are in a quiet location on the edge of the small village of Habberley and are five minutes' walk from the nearest pub. The nearby village of Pontesbury (10 minutes' drive) is close by too and has a wide range of amenities including a local baker, a butcher's, a supermarket and restaurants.

Well-behaved dogs (on leads) are welcome at Eastridge Glamping.

Everything fantastic. Cabin clean, warm and exactly as hopped. The bed was very comfortable and pretty big. We only stayed for one night which was chosen purposely to be clear and cold (excellent dark sky areas) but the cold weather didn't make the cabin any less comfortable. Village pub is great and an interesting drinking place - very friendly locals and dogs. The village is historically interesting too and everything only a short walk from the cabin. Good eating place a short drive (Nags Head, Pontesbury). Although only 3 cabins currently there are a few more being added (with contained bathrooms/kitchens) so it shouldn't over burden the shower/WCs - 2 units for the 3 cabins. We really enjoyed our stay at this friendly site. Finally, bathroom was clean with masses of hot water and a good heater and outdoor covered kitchen area equally clean.

Absolutely wonderful stay at the Glamping Pods at Eastridge Farm. Debbie and her husband were very welcoming, pods were warm and cosy, plenty of plug sockets and little table and chairs for tea and breakfast. We enjoyed the firepit one evening with marshmallows for the kids and used the electric grill for bacon rolls after a gorgeous local walk! The location is ideal, a lovely day spent at local town Church Stretton (Visit Kaboodles for perfect local gifts, toys, crystals) followed by brunch then a walk (slight rock climbing involved but our 11 and 7 year old managed it) to Cardingmill Valley up to the waterfall. Would also recommend The Nags Head a few mins drive from the pods for a delicious dinner and local ales and The Mightom Arms a few mins walk from the pods for a drink. We had a fantastic evening, the landlady was wonderful, we played snooker with the kids and were made to feel very welcome. Honestly, could not recommend a stay at Eastridge enough - we will be back in the spring! The Harris Family x

We stayed for 5 nights had a great time staying in a camping pod. Very warm and cosy, great design with lots of power sockets. The single beds are very comfy and we put a camping mattress on the floor, which was a bit of a squeeze but worked fine.
The toilet and shower block is great (lots of hot water and very clean) and there is a really useful outside kitchen area, with a fridge, sink and microwave.
We explored the local area walking and cycling and loved the nearby pub, the Mytton Arms, which was very welcoming with great beer.

Only issue was washing up water wasn’t warm.

Maybe a few more hooks to hang up . Maybe a little walk way through fence to car park as some stuff needs to stay in car and had to pop back and forth. But these thing didn’t make my experience negative as I’m pretty easy going. Just a few suggestions for comfort.

From the manager...

Thank you for the review, but what a shame you did not speak to us about the water heater in the washing up area as it was just a five minute job to change a fuse that had blown. We are more than happy for cars to unload/load directly outside their Pods and the path around to the carpark is approximately an extra 10 paces which save's the grassy area around the Pods as an place to enjoy.

The place was extremely easy to find and check in was too! The first thing we noticed was how incredibly clean the pods and facilities were! We have stayed on a few campsites in the past and none have compared to this one where comfort and cleanliness are concerned.

There are beautiful walks nearby, starting right at the pods, as well as a few local pubs around the area (which we of course sampled!)

Deb was extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us, answering any questions with a smile. She really seems to go the extra mile for her guests, even offering to give us a lift to the pub if we were stuck!

Overall our time there was great and would highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing glamping experience! 5*

Local attractions

New to the Shropshire Hills? Leave the car at home and make the most of the scenery with the Shropshire Hills' high-season shuttle buses (five minutes' walk to the nearest stop; July to early September), allowing you to get out to beauty spots like the Stiperstones, Church Stretton and Carding Mill Valley in the Long Mynd (all can also be driven to within roughly half an hour).

Shrewsbury (25 minutes) is also worth visiting for its museums like Coleham Pumping Station and the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery – if you find yourself interested by the town's ancient past while perusing the latter, you might like to follow up with a visit to the well-presented ruins at Wroxeter Roman City (30 minutes) just down the road.

Other high-rated historic days out are to be had at Ironbridge (45 minutes), a UNESCO World Heritage Site with industrial structures galore, while for something a bit older there's also Ludlow Castle (50 minutes) or the well-preserved buildings around Hay-on-Wye (55 minutes), a market town on the border between England and Wales.
