Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Peaceful, beautiful settings, fantastic facilities, well equipped clean communal kitchen. Clean toilets. Bob made regular checks to ensure people where OK.
Having the cafe / shop at the front of the lakes was very convenient.

Disliked There is nothing we didn't like.
It would be good to have a little plastic chair/bench in the shower cubicles to sit on to enable it to be a little easier to get dressed especially if you have mobility issues. (a little unsteady balancing).

Liked If your into fishing there were two lakes.

Disliked Not the best camp site we've been too. Showers were very outdated and wasn't the cleanest.
The small kitchen looked like it could of done with a huge clean. Bin bags and unwashed plates ECT left everywhere even though we brought our own tea milk ECT there was just an old stained kettle to use in the kitchen and not even a carton of milk to help yourself too. Considering we paid £45 for two nights. We've stayed at campsites before for half the price and you at least got a cup of coffee or tea you could help yourself too on arrival and during your stay. It does say free wifi however there was no passwords ECT regarding this info.
Doubt we will visit again

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Nicely laid out, spacious field, peaceful.

Disliked Toilets & showers a bit tired and not spotless (but also not filthy). Tap out of order, but could have used kitchen/bathroom to fill jugs etc. Didn't receive email the day ahead of stay, but owner answered my call immediately and was very helpful.
Struggled to find it, ended up having to turn around both times I approached as signage isn't as good westbound.

What customers say

This peaceful and well-maintained site offers large, level pitches with privacy hedging. Visitors praise the beautiful lakes, tranquil environment, and convenient location for exploring the Welsh border. While many highlight the friendly staff and good value, some reviews note the toilet and shower facilities require updating and more frequent cleaning. Manager replies indicate issues with broken toilet seats and cobwebs have been addressed.

Liked Have stayed here a fair few times, pitches are a great size, with hedges between them for privacy. Bob is just lovely and really helpful. Fishing great.

Disliked We found the showers and toilets to be rather dirty whenever we went in, with doors not locking and never any toilet paper.
That being said, we still return whenever we can so doesn't put us off, we just use the caravan facilities instead of the block.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Generous pitch sizes, and lovely views. Bob was a great help though out the weekend!! Couldn't have got through it without him! This was our first outing in our caravan and couldn't have asked for a better site to start on.

Disliked Only issue we had was the sign for the caravan site wasn't visible as it had turned when we entered so we ended up going the wrong way.

Liked Beautiful site, well presented and relaxing

Disliked Bins could be closer to field, also fisherman arrived on site and hubby said the gents toilets were disgustingly dirty after them. There were only 3 motorhomes on site, toilets were fine Saturday but Sunday were not.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Easy booking and large pitch. Outside areas were well maintained and lovely looking fishing lakes. Probably great for those who like fishing. Straightforward instructions for arrival over email in advance and left alone in our pitch.

Disliked Dirty and unkempt facilities which made the cost unjustifiable

Local attractions

Leave the car behind and take the bus just outside Wigmore Lakes for a history-hunting day in Shrewsbury, taking care to stroll down as many shuts (medieval streets) as possible. If you're around in August, the esteemed Shrewsbury Flower Show is one of the biggest flora-based fests in England. Also have a wander around Welshpool (Wigmore Lakes is between it and Shrewsbury) and take a trip to Ironbridge for several award-winning museums based around the Industrial Revolution. For proper wanders, a network of footpaths is close to the site, including the Offa's Dyke Path, skirting by both Shrewsbury and Welshpool on its 177-mile run from Chepstow to Prestatyn.
