  • Luxurious adults-only touring park with easy access from the A49
  • A 15-minute drive to Shrewsbury, Attingham Park or Carding Mill Valley
  • Peaceful dog-friendly site 10 minutes' walk from Dorrington village
Smart Shropshire stays are what’s on offer at Stoney Acres Luxury Holiday Park, a peaceful adults-only touring site in a handy location just off the A49 about 15 minutes’ drive south of Shrewsbury. Easy access to the main road means that it’s simple to get out and explore your surroundings from this park, whether you’re heading up into town, going south into the Shropshire Hills National Landscape or aiming to take in places like Ludlow and the museums of Ironbridge. Once you’ve parked up on site, you can leave the car behind and get around by public transport if you prefer. Handy bus services to Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Church Stretton leave from the nearby village of Dorrington (10 minutes’ walk away). There are plenty more useful things in the village too – it’s got a village shop, a butchers, a restaurant and a gastropub to make mealtimes easy (whether you’re doing your own cooking or eating out). Back on site, you’ll be staying at a pretty park with landscaped grounds and the extra level of peace you get from a child-free environment. As the name suggests, everything here has been designed to give a sense of luxury to your stay – the bathrooms, for example, have underfloor heating, rainfall showers and granite worktops, along with handy extras like hair dryers. Each pitch has a 16-amp electric supply, a drinking water and waste water facility and a digital TV hookup, and you’ll also have access to shared facilities including a laundry room, ultrafast fibre wifi and a dog wash station to avoid muddy paws after walks with your four-legged pal. The modern design also means this park is fully accessible to guests with disabilities.

What customers say

This adults-only site boasts exceptional, modern facilities including luxury showers and toilets, frequently praised as the best ever encountered. Guests highlight the immaculate cleanliness, spacious pitches, and friendly, helpful owners. Security is robust. While some mention noise from a nearby quarry and busy road, many find it manageable and outweighed by the site's quality. A short walk provides access to a village pub and shop.

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding touring pitch (XL)

Liked The friendly, helpful staff. The exceptionally clean toilet, shower facilities.

Disliked The site is a flat open space with trees down the left side, it would benefit from some hedges to break up the space and create some privacy.
Pitch 9 was next to a river which looked lovely, but on the other side of the river was H. Evason & Co an aggregates quarry, which from 9am - 5pm had stone trucks dropping skip loads of rubble into a grinding machine that grinds up the stone. This ran all day which was a constant noise and not relaxing!

Unfortunately for the owners the location and neighbours are something they cannot control.

Liked We’ve had a lovely stay at Stoney Acres and would definitely recommend it. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, which made us feel at home straight away.

It’s adults only and dog friendly, which was perfect for us. The site is lovely and peaceful, and everything is exceptionally clean and well maintained. The facilities are modern and it’s obvious that a lot of thought and care has gone into the site.

It’s just a really relaxing place to stay, exactly what we were looking for. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will definitely be coming back! 🐾❤️

Liked Friendly and welcoming holiday park in a stunning location. The facilities were fantastic, so clean and in superb condition. We also enjoyed the fact that it was quite a small place so we actually got to know others who were camping and felt very much catered for.

Local attractions

The Shropshire Hills National Landscape is well known as a lovely place for a walk, and you’ll be in prime position to explore from Stoney Acres. Some of the best known places to head for are Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd (15 minutes’ drive) and the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve (35 minutes), but there are plenty of quieter trails to seek out too. There are lots of historic locations to visit around this area too – perhaps you’d like to stroll around the grounds of Attingham Park Estate (15 minutes), step further back in time at Wroxeter Roman City (15 minutes) or get to know the various museums of Ironbridge Gorge (half an hour), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of the Industrial Revolution. For more days out, find boat trips and canoe hire in Shrewsbury (15 minutes) or head south to Ludlow (35 minutes) to browse its foodie shops, tour its gin distillery and see its ruined castle.
