  • Well-maintained site between Oswestry and Shrewsbury, off the A5
  • Within 20 minutes' drive of Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Wroxeter
  • Pool table, dog walk, showers, toilets and launderette
You’ll be tickled pink with a stay at Cranberry Moss Caravan Park, a sweet site in rural Shropshire. First up, it's surrounded by the peaceful county betwixt England and Wales that’s long been a bolthole for those seeking quiet rural times: even the invading Romans escaped here in between all that empire building… Next up, this is a well placed site for getting out and about among Shropshire’s activities and attractions – of which there are many, for the county’s gentle pace doesn’t mean a lack of stuff to do. Far from it: from Cranberry Moss you can roll along to world-famed attractions like Ironbridge Gorge, the Saxon – and Tudor – country town of Shrewsbury, and hikes or gentle strolls aplenty among the Long Mynd, Stretton Hills and the Wrekin, all part of the Shropshire Hills of Outstanding Natural Beauty. All this is most easily accessed, as the site is just off the A5 in a handy spot between Oswestry (15 minutes’ drive) and Shrewsbury (20 minutes). For times when you’re not out roaming, there’s a pool table and a dog walk area where canines can stretch their paws. Everyday needs are easily sorted here too, as the amenities include showers, toilets, a washing-up area and a launderette – these last two with spectacular Shropshire views to make your tasks less tiresome.

Liked Loved our short stay here, came for one night and was perfect. The facilities are lovely and very clean. The dog run perfect for our dog on a walk. There is a bar but only open bank holidays and school holidays. free WiFi too.
Is close the a5 so maybe take earplugs but we was fine.

Liked Toilet and shower block were excellent. Easy access motorhome service drain. Bus stop right outside for trip to Oswestry or Shrewsbury. Short dog walk on site but slightly longer bridleway walk just outside site.

Disliked Very little shade available but to be fair it has been ridiculously hot of late.

Liked Wow, from the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble. The manager and the team were very attentive, they even took time to come over and talk to us as we sat having a beverage or two.

The addition of a rainbow flag made me feel at home and I knew that there would be no trouble as we were same sex couple. In this very decisive world it is often difficult to feel comfortable without a raised eyebrow.

The washing up room was lovely and clean, not a dirty dish to be found and the worktops were spotless.

The toliets and showers were lovely too, I know that they are working hard to upgrade them, but its nice to know that people have such high standards and want to make things better.

If you are stuck for things to do locally, I would suggest asking the team, they will be able to guide you in the right direction.

Nothing to do with the campsite, but if you chose to go to the local sculpture park, shops and cafe, make sure you give yourself enough time an hour just isn't enough and as its so close to the campsite I recommend you give it a visit.

There is electric hookups and I was told that they do longer stays for pitches, but you would have to ask.

There is a board onside the washroom with useful details on. And there might be a laundrette? Again you would have to ask as it was just something I heard in passing.

The campsite does have a bar, but it is only open on bank holidays and during the holidays, dont be upset if it isnt open at any other time, the staff deserve nights off too. If you want a bar to be open onsite, it might be worth checking availability when you book, I am sure they wont mind a call. They were great when I called to ask a question.

We will come back again when we are free, maybe we will try a bank holiday and have a party in the bar with the lovely, accommodating, friendly team.

Any negative comments on here have shocked me, they must be fron people who haven't done their homework! Can't wait for next time.

Liked Smart washing up area.

Disliked No bar as stated on website and no obvious presence of manager throughout stay . Asked manager about bus services on arrival but info inaccurate as no Sunday service despite his assurance there was meant we had nowhere to go on sunday

From the manager: Thank you for your horrible personal attack Cora Martin !

Firstly I would like to start by reminding you of our conversation ! I advised you that we have 2 bus stops within 4 minutes walking distance of the caravan park, One directly outside the park which runs hourly, and the other one down by the A5. I stated to you that I have never caught the bus and recommended that maybe you should walk down and check the timetable or google it which clearly you didn’t bother to do so.

You must be clearly stupid as you have contradicted yourself, who checked you in on the Friday when you arrived ? Myself the manager, you also asked me about the bus times, then you decide to leave a horrible review saying I wasn’t present thought out your stay ! Well Mora you can stick your review where the sun doesn’t shine as my presense has nothing to do with you ! We have a full time warden who was working all weekend in my absence as I am entitled to time off work ! Not that I need to explain myself to someone like you.

As for your comment having nowhere to go on Sunday well that’s a you problem ! Not my problem ! If you had any sense you could have taken yourself off in your camper van as we have lots of lovely places to visit locally !

People like you really get under my skin !

On a final note I am glad to read that you wouldn’t return as I don’t need negativity from people like you at Cranberry Moss.

Liked This is a very well kept campsite, I stayed here last year and more improvements since.
The toilet and shower blocks are currently being refurbished and to be honest they were already in good condition.
Ashley gives good cues to campers to keep the site in the condition it deserves.
I shall definitely be back next year

Liked Quiet site easy to locate and very good for visiting local area. Good showers. Dog space was use full to allow your pet off lead.

Disliked Many rough areas, weeds growing in gravel pitches, dog area overgrown. Just a little more attention could improve immensely.

Local attractions

Shropshire’s absolutely stacked with things to do – outdoorsy activities, museums, castles, arty attractions, theatres, shops… If you’re blinded by choice or need a bit of inspiration, who better to ask than the folk on site, local experts who’ll happily dole out a bit of advice. Among the top picks they might point you towards are the splendid estates of Attingham Park (20 minutes’ drive), a National Trust property where you can paddle canoes or frolic in the Field of Play, and Weston Park (40 minutes), to stroll through gardens designed by the famed Capability Brown. Those Roman visitors left a bit of stuff behind when they moved on, and you can see their style on a trip to Wroxeter Roman City (20 minutes). This area was central to more recent history too – notably at Ironbridge (35 minutes), birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site packed with fab museums and family-friendly attractions. If you’re in the company of kids (or indeed grownups) fascinated by all things that move, pack them into the car for the 40-minute drive to see the planes at the Royal Air Force Museum or to take a steam-driven ride on the Severn Valley Railway from Bridgnorth.
