  • Small and friendly meadow site near the Shropshire Hills
  • Within 10 minutes' walk of Much Wenlock
  • Campfires allowed: logs and kindling available on site
Good times for all ages can be anticipated at Wenlock Edge Caravan and Camping near Wenlock Edge in Shropshire: if you want a peaceful and relaxed setting with stacks of space for the kids to let off steam, this family-friendly place will tick all your holiday boxes. The big draw here is the friendly vibe from amiable owners and seasoned campers Claire and Carol, who'll be seen on site keeping everything shipshape (and sorting out logs and kindling for your evening campfire). The modern facilities extend to showers and toilets with underfloor heating, hair dryers and heaters, as well as a laundry room. Other topping factors are the big and safe natural area for kids to run around in away from the main site, and the closeness of Withies to activities of all sorts, including hikes around the Shropshire Hills, industrious visits to Ironbridge and its museums, and mooching around Shrewsbury, under half an hour's drive away. Withies is set in six acres of grassy meadow on Wenlock Edge near the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's a 10-minute walk to the historic market town of Much Wenlock and its visitor centre, traditional shops and a satisfying selection of pubs and restaurants.

What customers say

This is a very clean and well-maintained site, praised for its excellent and modern toilet and shower facilities, some with underfloor heating. Guests appreciate the secure, coded entry, peaceful atmosphere, and beautiful rural views. The location is ideal for walking into Much Wenlock and exploring local footpaths. While most find the sloped pitches manageable, levelling ramps are often necessary for caravans and motorhomes. Some guests noted minor issues with the availability of toilet paper and bin capacity, but these appear to have been addressed by the owners.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Facilities were very good, kitchen area has a kettle, microwave and fridge freezer with Tea and coffee provided.
My wife was blown away with the underfloor heating in the facilities block when she went for a shower.
Liked the secure access to the site.
Also liked that you can walk up to the path at the top of the field, avoiding the need to go on the road.

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked Toilet/showers block very nicely built, one of the most luxurious you will see on a campsite. Also a nice kitchen with toaster kettle etc supplied for you. Friendly owner and he gives you tips such as walk to the top of the field then to the top of the next field and take that lane into town rather than using the main road which, on foot, can be a little bit tricky because of the traffic and no pavement for the first 300 yards. Would definitely return here.

Disliked As other people have said, the slope can be a little bit uncomfortable. If the owner could dig out a few flat pitches then this would be a 10 out of 10 site.

Liked Large cubicles

Disliked Beautifully kept site. Very large shower and toilet cubicles, which included shower seats and colostomy bag holders, plus underfloor heating, Very luxurious!
Lovely meadow for kids to run amongst, and firewood with quirky washing machine drum firepits for campers use
The only thing that bothered me quite a lot:
The cleaning taking place at the time in the morning when you have time for one before you leave (10ish), and the chap ( worked /owned?) who was standing chatting with the lady (immaculately) cleaning, when you would like some privacy for the loo etc

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked Clean and well presented site. Shower block was spotless and underfloor heating was very welcome in a chilly evening.
Well signed walk down to Much Wenlock to avoid the road.

Disliked Site is on a slope so levelling chocks required, but no big deal.

Local attractions

Wenlock Edge Caravan and Camping is in prime position for Shropshire's country, town and historic attractions, from its setting near the Shropshire Hills and within walking distance of town. Much Wenlock is between Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth, with the Ironbridge Gorge and the town of Telford to the north-east. Within a few minutes' walk is the limestone escarpment of Wenlock Edge, a Site of Special Scientific Interest running for over 19 miles between Craven Arms and Much Wenlock. It includes the marked trail of the Shropshire Way, the bridle path of the Jack Mytton Way, and eccentric structures like the tower Flounder's Folly, which many walks around the area pass. The Ironbridge Gorge Museums should entice even the most reluctant of small Shropshire holidaymakers: this UNESCO World Heritage Site has 10 museums telling the tale of Britain's Industrial Revolution, including the Blists Hill Victorian Town and Enginuity, an interactive design and technology centre with shows and workshops. Also make time for a trip on the spectacular Severn Valley Railway, on its 16-mile route through the Severn valley and along the River Severn for much of the way. The track runs from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster; alight nearby at Ironbridge Level Crossing, or nine miles from Withie at Bridgnorth. County capital Shrewsbury is 13 miles away, and the market town of Ludlow within 23.
