Liked Plenty of space they put the toilet lights on when we arrived and left them on util we left. The nearby golf club was handy for food and drinks.

Disliked Trains were running close by but we got used to the noise so didn't bother us.

Non-electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked What a great place to stay - we were on our own on a Monday night! Consequently, we had the whole racecourse to ourselves. There was no shower block or power hook-up, but it was great nonetheless. The trains were very close to the camper, but you get used to it very quickly. Had a great walk around the whole course with a 5-minute drive into Ludlow for breakfast.

Liked The tranquility was wonderful, we were just left alone to enjoy our couple of off-grid nights.

Watching the bird life including red kites was brilliant.

The trains occasionally passing was not a problem at all, and the ambient road noise no different to a lot of other sites.

We will be back without doubt as it is in a great location for breaking up our journey when avoiding the M5 and M6 in the Midlands

Local attractions

You could start off a trip here by whizzing over to historic hotspots such as Ludlow’s 11th-century castle (10 minutes' drive), set on a cliff above the river Teme. After inspecting the surrounding area from its impressive ramparts, you might like to move on to Stokesay Castle (10 minutes), a historic site with an altogether different vibe as this is a fortified manor house, built by one of medieval England's most powerful wool merchants. Staying in the past, you could explore the agricultural heritage on display at Acton Scott Historic Working Farm (20 minutes), or instead zoom forward a few hundred years to the Industrial Revolution by exploring the Ironbridge Gorge Museum (40 minutes), located in a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the banks of the Severn. If you don't mind roaming slightly further from base, you could visit the famed medieval Mappa Mundi at Hereford Cathedral (40 minutes), let the kids go and say hi to the animals and birds at West Midland Safari Park, take nostalgia-tinged train rides aboard the lovingly preserved Severn Valley Railway in Kidderminster (50 minutes) or head out hiking in the Brecon Beacons National Park (from 45 minutes).
