  • Family-run glamping site on a smallholding near Tenbury Wells
  • A 20-minute drive from the historic market town of Ludlow
  • Spacious wooden pods with separate private shower rooms
In need of some proper peace and quiet? You know, that sort of rural location where the only traffic noise comes from the occasional passing tractor? Take yourselves off to Churchbridge Glamping, on a Shropshire smallholding 10 minutes’ drive from Tenbury Wells. This location is quiet indeed – it’s surrounded by large open fields interspersed with public footpaths and bridleways, and it’s a safe haven for children, who can run free or play in the playground, which has swings and a slide along with a trim trail for added activity. Of course, there are no promises that your rural setting will be entirely silent – but any noise is likely to be a rather pleasant burble coming from your neighbours, the sheep and hens that live here alongside the site’s oldest resident, Neddy the donkey. (As a trade-off, eggs are available to buy on site, along with seasonal fruit and jams from time to time.) As for your accommodation, the insulated pods are very spacious and will comfortably sleep a family of four. Inside, you can expect a heater for cooler nights plus tea and coffee making facilities; a short distance away, each unit has its own private shower room with a toilet and basin. Please bring your own bedding and towels. The site also has a spacious fitted communal kitchen that all guests can use; cereals, milk, bread, spreads and homemade jams are provided if you fancy a quick breakfast. In addition, there are two firepits and barbecues (you can also bring your own) and picnic benches dotted around for alfresco dining.

Camping pod

Liked: Just returned from a 2 night stay at Churchbridge glamping and it was amazing. The pods were prefect. The kitchen area was a added bonus and perfect for us to sit and have meals together. The boys loved the lambs, chickens and the donkey that were onsite. Kerry (owner) was lovely and we felt so welcomed. The boys were even given a bag of animal food for the safari park we were visiting and a bag of chocolates each. Would definitely recommend staying here and we will 100% return.

Camping pod

Liked: Chickens and rural setting. Very clean and lovely host.

Disliked: Small gripe was some one pinced some drinks from communal fridge. We were looking forward to a nice cold cider after a day out. When we got back they were gone! But no reflection on the facilities and site. 🙂

Local attractions

Nearby Tenbury Wells (10 minutes’ drive) was a favourite spot of Queen Victoria – and it’s still a fine place to visit now, with lots of independent shops, a museum and an Art Deco cinema as well as river walks and a history trail. Ludlow (20 minutes) is another place that’s worth a stop, particularly for its food shops. For a full day out, Ironbridge Gorge (50 minutes) should fit the bill – there are several attractions here, including Blists Hill Victorian Town, the Coalport China Museum and the hands-on Enginuity science museum, plus the chance to go underground at the Tar Tunnel. There’s more history on show at the National Trust’s Berrington Hall (20 minutes), which is surrounded by gorgeous gardens (designed by Capability Brown, no less) to stroll through. Sticking with the outdoor theme, you could also take walks or bike rides in Wyre Forest (25 minutes), which also has a Go Ape adventure park, or explore several themed areas at West Midland Safari Park (25 minutes).
