  • Peaceful rural site with views over the Shropshire Hills
  • A 10-minute drive from Church Stretton and the Long Mynd
  • A mile from a country pub for drinks and food
What gorgeous views there are from South View Pods, looking out over the Shropshire Hills (no surprise to find this has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). That’d be a fine backdrop to an evening sizzling sausages on the barbie while the sun sets, yes…? And the surrounds would also be a fab place to get out for a few strolls or cycle rides – long ones on the Long Mynd or shorter ones to the pub are both perfectly possible (it’s a mere mile to the nearest country inn). Countryside may be all around, but urban amenities aren’t far away either: Church Stretton is 10 minutes’ drive away. Pack a mattress and bedding for your pod stay and you’ll hopefully be in for a peaceful night’s slumber – your cosy wooden hut is kitted out with a kingsize double bed frame to kip on, and has lighting, electrical sockets and heating (no scrabbling around in the cold and dark here, you’ll be chuffed to hear). The rear and front windows have blinds to block out early morning sun: lie-ins almost essential… Toilets and showers are a short scamper away in a modern toilet block, and you’ll also have access to drinking water and a washing-up area.

Camping pod

Liked: As always, I never have any issues with staying here. The pod is always immaculate when I go as well. The sheep was soo close this time 😍 Usually stay with my daughter but this time around I came alone. Have booked again and will continue too come back for as long as the pod stands 🤣 There is no WiFi on site but your mobile should work fine I'm on 02 and have fab signal and have no issues with hot spotting from my phone to a laptop ext.

Disliked: Never had a issue

Camping pod

Liked: Me and my 10yo love this pod. It's your basic pod with electric so you need to bring your own things. Which isn't a issue for us. The site is clean and well maintained. It's so beautiful here that this is our second pod stay and it won't be our last. We enjoy a stroll along the lane to the neighbouring farms to spot the animals and the tractors. ( its become our thing) Local towns are a few minutes drive via some stunning scenic routes. There is always something to do.. but there is also always time to find peacefulness there. I honestly cannot put into words how nice this place is. It's a place that me and my daughter can just escape too and bond off the grid away from city life. So my mobile data and hotspot work perfect there with no lag just for those interested to know if you can signal.

Disliked: Honestly, the fact I couldn't pet the neighbouring farms floofy sheepies 😍

Local attractions

This is a fab area to get out for some fresh air – bring your boots or your bike to get out and explore the surrounding Shropshire Hills or head to the heathland of Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd, around 10 minutes away by car. Step back in time by driving the five minutes to Acton Scott Historic Working Farm for a taste of rural life in the olden days, complete with dressing up and lots of friendly animals to meet. Or look at life even further back with a trip to medieval Stokesay Castle, 20 minutes away, or Wroxeter Roman City (25 minutes). If Victorian’s more your era, head to the World Heritage Site half an hour away at Ironbridge – there are 10 museums over here where you can pick up all sorts of scientific and historic snippets to ponder as you munch on traditional treats from the sweetie shop.
