  • Stylish glamping in ancient woodland at a 1,000-acre Shropshire estate
  • A 15-minute drive to Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd
  • Hot tub, barbecue, bathroom and kitchen for each unit
Now, here’s something a bit special… Acton Scott Escapes is a smart glamping site tucked away in ancient woodland in the heart of the 1,000-acre Acton Scott Estate, about 10 minutes' drive from Church Stretton in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s a fabulous location indeed – and if the name of the place sounds slightly familiar, that may well be because it’s the setting of the BBC’s ‘Victorian Farm’ programmes. The glamping units here are well spaced out, each within its own little encampment that has a barbecue and hot tub (you’ll need to book this as an extra) plus plenty of private space where you can spend an evening stargazing. Each unit also has electricity and hot water connections, so although it’s all pretty rural in atmosphere you don’t have to live completely off grid. Much is provided for guests here, with beds made up ready for your arrival, towels provided and various extras included such as firewood, a barbecue and lanterns. Each unit has a kitchen area, a woodburning stove and private bathroom facilities. The site was remodelled for the 2023 season with the addition of a lovely shop that sells tasty handmade ready meals from the local deli (a fine option for days when the weather puts you off barbecuing or your outings have left you too tired to cook). There’s also a very handy ‘Wander Wall’ listing local hikes and activities for all ages and abilities; if you need more advice on how to fill your days, take a look in the handbook provided or ask your friendly host Tam for recommendations.
