Camping and touring pitches

  • Well-maintained site on an alpaca farm with views over Severn Valley
  • A 15-minute drive to the Severn Valley Railway and a safari park
  • Alpaca treks and picnics available on site; picnics areas and games
Stunning views? Indeed – at one of the highest points in the Severn Valley, this well-maintained site overlooks the valley and the Clee Hills. With alpacas roaming freely around, Severn Valley Alpacas is also a peaceful setting with plenty of wildlife; birds of prey live and nest in the wooded area next to the farm, their calls combining with the background sound of the Severn Valley steam trains. Home to a breeding herd of alpacas, the farm can also arrange trekking, alpaca experiences and even alpaca picnics for an additional fee. There are several picnic tables in private, quiet locations for your own human-only picnics. There’s a nature area set up in the site’s orchard. If the kids need to let off steam too, there’s a selection of toys for younger kids and outdoor games for the slightly older ones (they’re next to the ducks). As a rural setting, it’s easy to get out onto public footpaths or local hill walks (and it’s very much quiet and relaxing on site). A shorter stroll of about 40 minutes will get you to the village of Alveley, which has a stunning church, shop, Chinese takeaway and an Indian restaurant and takeaway (there’s delivery available, subject to a minimum spend). There are also three pubs, which serve a range of food: a carvery, breakfast buffet on the weekend, Sunday roast, pizzas and fish and chips.

Liked: Everything! We were met by Andy who gave us a great intro and showed us to the pitches on the top field. He made sure we had everything we needed and we pitched up on the Friday evening to a gorgeously sunset (the views are amazing). In the morning, we went and met the alpacas, geese and ducks and let our dogs have a run round in the enclosed field. Andy came round again to give us some freshly laid duck eggs as well as extra water too. The portaloo was also the cleanest, most well-kept one I've ever used too. Would definitely recommend this campsite and we all had a lovely time

Disliked: Nothing really but a shower would be handy for any longer stays (we just stayed for 2 nights so managed without)

Liked: Such a stunningly beautiful site! The views are perfect and you feel like you’ve stepped out of the busy world and into a peaceful bliss a million miles away. Andy who greeted us was amazing and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and he made is feel so welcome, straight away learning the kids and dogs names. Huge open space for the kids to run free and play while we took in the fabulous surroundings. Andy brought us cold bottled water to make everything a little easier and was so accommodating with everything, bringing us fresh duck eggs and extra benches. There was a separate, secure field for our dog to have a good run around. We enjoyed it so much that we didn’t leave. An extra night for us and our friends who joined us. We took up the opportunity to enjoy the Alpaca experience and we all enjoyed it from age 4 to 43. I have also never seen a cleaner portaloo! Andy and Loraine really care about their guests and it shows. We can’t wait to come back!

Disliked: There is nothing to dislike. A shower would be excellent but everything else outweighs that so much that we really didn’t care.

Liked: Lovely site, friendly welcome from Andy and Lorraine, and we got to camp in the same field as Alpacas. What an absolute win. The view is amazing. Toilet on site is clean and functional, washing up facilities a total bonus. Highly recommended.

Liked: We had a wonderful relaxing couple of nights staying here. We loved the views, especially the sunsets, and the owners Andy and Lorraine were very welcoming and helpful. It was really nice to be able to walk around the fields and get up close with the Alpacas. They offer discounted alpaca trecking / feeding experiences for campers too. There is plenty of space for frisby, football or rounders on the top field. Toilet facilities were basic, but very clean. Nice outdoor washing up area. Being a small site meant it was lovely and quiet - we were actually the only people there when we stayed. Would definitely recommend for a peaceful get away!

Disliked: We didn’t dislike anything, but there were no showers. This didn’t bother us as we were only staying two nights. No electric hook up either, which again we didn’t mind.

Top Field non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: We camped for 2 nights with our children aged 5 and 2 and had an amazing time. The children loved being so close to the animals, and had the freedom to explore the natural surroundings in a safe way without us having to follow them around everywhere (we couldn't get them back to the tent!) We also walked and fed the alpacas which was a great experience which the kids loved. Lorraine and Andy were lovely and were happy to help with anything that we needed, including giving us a space where we could walk our dog off lead for the weekend. The facilities were very clean and there was plenty of bottled water available if we needed it. We visited Sandwell Valley Park which was a 10 minute drive away. The park is a great place to walk and for the kids to play (numerous play areas). There's also a coffee shop which serves an excellent selection of cakes. We all loved our time at SVA and are hoping to return again later this year.
