Our spot
One of the fishing lakes

  • Peaceful family-friendly site on a farm in the Oxfordshire countryside
  • A 25-minute drive to Oxford and an hour to the Cotswolds
  • Four fishing lakes, river access and on-site shop
Switch between the pedestrianised alleys of the ‘city of dreaming spires’ and the mellow hills and countryside tea rooms of the Cotswolds… all on the same day if you wish. Set your base in Greenhill Leisure Park, a family-run farm site surrounded by the Oxfordshire countryside in Bletchingdon, within 25 minutes' drive of Oxford and an hour from the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are certainly no shortages of countryside pursuits on hand, with four fishing lakes on site stocked with carp or coarse fish, and a nice selection of countryside rambles or woodland walks from the site. Where to start, with 270 acres to explore on this farm site? Well, first pick a plot among the well-maintained pitches. Next, while away the afternoon with a riverside picnic while watching the canal boats glide by, or head to the carp fishing lake for a test of strength… the biggest fish weigh up to a hefty 30lbs. Beat any bouts of the tummy grumbles with the shop and bistro-style café on site. Handily, there are also two pubs within a five-minute drive for a refreshing drink. Other facilities include a toilet block, launderette, washing-up facilities and wifi. There’s a dedicated grassy area for dogs to stretch their legs, if you’ve brought a canine friend along for the ride too.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Everything, the staff were always busy but happy and smiling, the site was immaculate all the time, the pitches were enormous, nice toilet and lovely hot showers which were not on a timer, the dog exercise area was massive, really safe and enclosed and the dog walks direct from the site were outstanding, we felt very safe and the other campers were always friendly. The fishing lakes were clean and there were 4 to choose from, we loved our 4 day stay here and would recommend this site, shop and all

Disliked: Nothing

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: The peace & quiet. The good spacious size of the pitch. The facilities & the copious taps of drinking water.

Disliked: Not being warned the cafe was shut. The inside shop wasn’t up to much to compensate.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Lovely site, very friendly staff. Good toilet and shower facilities. Small shop useful. Access easy. Liked the automatic number plate recognition access barrier. Lovely walks around the site.

Disliked: Site bar and restaurant closed. This was important for us and it appears it has been closed for a while. That's okay, because website says 2 pubs nearby. Closest is permanently closed though! It's easy enough to update a website to avoid disappointment. I wouldn't have booked if I had known this, so guess site owner wouldn't do this. No reduction in fee for loss of facility, though no real surprise. Still a great site though.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: A very nice campsite, very beautiful setting, but not easy to find, the post code did send us somewhere else, approximately 5 minutes away. But once we found it, it was easy to find our pitch, we had arrived a little later than we thought, so it was already dark. Very good facilities, we really like to recommend this camp site

Disliked: at the road it just says Greenhill farm, not Greenhill leisure park, which made it a little bit difficult to find. There was a lovely shop, which we would have liked to visit in the morning. It said the shop is open at 10.00 but it was 11.00 and the shop was still not open, which was very disappointing

Local attractions

Woodland walking is on the cards at Island Pond Wood (20 minutes' drive). Don’t worry, you won’t find a crocodile here… but you may spot more than one or two at Crocodiles of the World (25 minutes). Keep your eyes peeled for more wildlife, including red kites and Duke of Burgundy butterflies, in the ancient woodlands and valleys of Chiltern Hills (45 minutes). Next, go where the fashionable people used to congregate, at the historic house and gardens of Blenheim Palace (five minutes) or Waddesdon Manor (35 minutes). At Bicester Heritage (15 minutes), you can delve into a different history, this time of motoring. Or look into the city of Oxford (25 minutes), where grand libraries and cathedrals stand tall. The same Jurassic limestone that forms the hilly walking district of the Cotswolds (an hour) is on show at the ancient stone circle of the Rollright Stones (25 minutes), another old site to add to the trip’s must-visit list.
