  • Adults-only glamping with spectacular views on an Oxfordshire farm
  • British Motor Museum 20 minutes’ drive; Warwick Castle half an hour
  • Shepherd’s hut with a garden, gazebo and barbecue; wildlife on site
Combine a slice of luxury with a farm stay at Spring Grounds Farm Shepherd Huts in the village of Great Bourton, 10 minutes’ drive from Banbury. Here your rural base is Badger’s Den, a dinky shepherd’s hut with a garden, a gazebo with a gas barbecue and spectacular views over Oxfordshire fields and valleys. The adults-only hut is fully insulated and has a double bed – which morphs by day into comfy seating – and a modern ensuite. Everything vital is supplied in the kitchenette, while board games, books and a radio are on hand in the cosy living space for entertainment. Keep toasty warm thanks to the woodburning stove; one pack of kindling and firelighters are provided, and more wood is available to buy from the farm. With around 100 sheep grazing the fields, you’ll see owner James tending to them (and he’ll be out in the fields harvesting hay in summer too). Feel free to say ‘hello’ to him and meet the frolicking newborn lambs in spring. Owls, buzzards and kestrels are a common sight on the farm, and if you keep your eyes peeled, you may also see deer in the tree nursery at the bottom of the valley – just please remember to close any field gates on your wanders PS: there’s a train line in the valley, and you will see and hear the odd train passing by. The M40 is a few miles away, so with a westerly wind you may occasionally hear cars when you’re out on the farm.
