  • Well-maintained adults-only Cotswolds campsite in rural Oxfordshire
  • Half an hour’s drive to Warwick Castle; Stratford-upon-Avon 25 minutes
  • Secure site with landscaped pitches; pub and shop five minutes’ drive
If you’re something of a wildlife fan or indeed just fancy somewhere peaceful and adults-only to bed down in Cotswolds countryside, Crofts Barn, a 20-minute drive from the market town of Banbury, in Oxfordshire, may be the spot for you. Life on site is quiet enough for you to hear the birds singing and the crickets chirping – and on summer evenings, you may well hear badgers grunting in the fading light. Deer, muntjac, squirrels and rabbits often put in an appearance too. And that’s before you take the livestock into account: in neighbouring fields, you can often watch the antics of the horses and cheeky goats. Access to the pitches (which are neatly mowed areas on a ridge-and-furrow meadow) is through a digitally locked gate, so you can be sure of a high level of security. Solar lights illuminate the short walk to the toilet/shower block, so you don’t have to look for a torch in the middle of the night if you need the loo. There’s a village shop in Tysoe (five minutes’ drive), which should have pretty much everything you need on the foodie front – and there’s a pub if you fancy a crafty pint. Since guests are not permitted on site, you’ll want to meet family and friends in the local coffee shops and pubs in the area. Want to get out and about exploring the Cotswolds by car, on foot or by bike? Or are you content to sit and chill on site? At Crofts Barn, you have the chance to do either one – or a bit of both…

This beautiful, peaceful campsite boasts immaculate facilities, spacious pitches, and stunning views. Guests consistently praise the friendly and helpful owners, the well-maintained grounds, and the tranquil atmosphere. Specific highlights include private woodland walks, resident animals, and the secure electric gate entry. While WiFi can be inconsistent, most visitors found it adequate. Liked Everything. Easy booking, even moves us to be near friends. Supplied me a longer cable. Fire pit was set each night. Woodland walk was as stunning. Shower blocks were warm, clean and fully stocked. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Disliked The pub was a trek down the road about 45 mins. The Bell at Shennington. Tried to get uber back but no joy especially with a dog. However the meal and ambiance at the bell was awesome.

Liked This is a lovely site. Stephanie was very welcoming and gave us advice about the local area. Everything is perfectly maintained. We stayed on a CAMC pitch which felt very private. We came for walking and gliding at Shenington and enjoyed both. We will be back.

Sunrising Hill electric optional hardstanding tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely campsite and we really enjoyed our stay. Met one owner who was attentive and friendly. Facilities - showers were lovely and clean, with everything you need — shelves, hooks and even a heater for the colder months. Picnic area with lovely views. Fire pit which I imagine in the winter will be great fun. Washing up area clean, notice board with local into very handy.
There’s also a lovely woodland walk on site, which was perfect for a wander. Being adults-only was a refreshing change too.
The animals on site were an added bonus — the goats and horse were so cute!

Disliked We did have a lovely stay, but I feel I must mention the work going on. As we were only there for one night, the work taking place on site didn't really affect us.

There was a dumper truck and a van bringing in gravel, fencing and quite a bit of activity around the site. Had we been staying for several nights, and this was ongoing every day, I think I may have been a little disappointed, so it might be worth warning visitors if the work is going to be ongoing for a while. I don't think it stated it was a 'working farm' maybe needs adding?

It didn't cause us too much of an issue as we were checking out that morning, but it's something longer-stay visitors might want to be aware of. Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Liked Great little site, very peaceful, helpful on arrival, good communication, clean shower and toilet facilities. Located near to Upton House National Trust, Banbury and Tadmarton Heath golf course which is why we chose this site. The Runway was recommended by the owners and this was very welcome, great burgers, pizzas and waffles set by the airfield. Would highly recommend

Disliked Could do with a little shop selling milk, tea etc just for little emergencies maybe
