Can’t decide between Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire? Your worries are over with a stay at Silverhill Woodland Retreats – this well-established and superbly maintained campsite near Teversal borders both counties – and in fact you can spy three more from the top of Silverhill nearby. Surrounded by countryside, it has a peaceful location and yet is still easily accessible from main road routes. Customer service and superior facilities are the name of the game here – for it has a very glitzy loo block crafted from black marble, with thoughtful luxuries in it like hair dryers and complimentary toiletries. No need to worry about leaving anything at home either, as there is a shop on the site selling camping essentials, coffee and stuff you basically forgot to pack. There are ice creams on hand too, if the kids are behaving. You’ll find a play area on site for your younger offspring, as well as miles of walking and cycling trails directly from the campsite (pick up maps in reception). You can bring any four-legged friends to share in your hikes, or restrict your exercise to a leisurely stroll down to the local pub (five minutes’ walk) for decent grub and a pint.

Liked Warm and welcoming reception, pitch was perfect. Enormous shower / toilet block and immaculate! A proper shower with a full room, no fighting with your towel at this site. Amazing walks with the dogs in the nearby (5 second walk) Silverhill woods. Lakes, Forests, Steep Climbs and full of History. Little shop on site for the necessities you forgot, and there is a pub down the round - don’t think it is particularly dog friendly so we never made it to there. Wi Fi was purchasable but the phone signal was so strong there was no need.

Disliked Nothing. Could have stayed longer!

Liked Great site, with quality facilities. Well kept, professional and helpful staff who are welcoming. The hard standing pitch was huge. Grounds well tended.
Toilet block was really nice, with good washing up facilities.
Price for stay was brilliant given the high standard of the place.
Pub nearby, walks and bike riding in park opposite.

Disliked Nothing to dislike specifically, just stuff to be aware of.
Background noise from M1. It’s not like you’re on top of the motorway, but if you want total peace and quiet and to only hear birdsong, the background white noise may interfere.
The single well kept toilet block is by reception.
WiFi is available, though subject to separate charge (not used), sorry wouldn’t let me remove star rating once shown.

Liked Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the site is lovely and well kept. The toilet and showers were clean and warm. The best thing for us was the close proximity to some great walks as we took our dog with us. Thank you.
